Need up to 30 seconds to load.
have you ever wondered if you could cut
a skirting board and remove some of it
while it was still attached to the wall
well the short answer is yes you can
because i did it on this bit of floor
back here so i could fit my bookshelves
in nice and snug against the wall
i'm karen and in this video i'm going to
show you how i did
just that job removed a bit of skirting
board
with very little knowledge no experience
and just a few basic tools so
i hope you like it i hope you learned
something and
if you watch right to the very end
you'll see the stupid embarrassing grin
on my face and you'll see just how proud
i was of myself that i actually did this
job
so here we go hope you like it see you
later
i have here is a brand new room
yay me and i want to put
a bookcase right up tight
into the corner
and this bit of skirting board here
i want to cut in half
and remove that bit from the back and
that's going to be
my mission so stick with me
and hopefully we'll get through it
together what we need to do is
mark on the skirting board where we want
our cut to be
so to get the right position i'm going
to move
my little bookcase where i want it to go
so here we are the cupboard's in place
it's right back firmly against the wall
and it's very
close as far as it can go to this wall
this bit of skirting board i want to
keep
so i've got my pencil and i'm just going
to run a pencil line
straight up there i actually do have a
a proper builder's pencil but i couldn't
find it
so i just went and grabbed my little
shopping list pencil
right now we're going to move our
cupboard out of the way
there's our line
now remember we're going to cut
just this side of the line
because that's where the cupboard is so
don't cut in the wrong place
i managed to get it started
you watch finally
this is going to take time
to it
[Laughter]
it's still stiff
all right here we go i've got
as far through as i think i want to get
and any little bit
that might be still there i can just cut
it with the chisel
well here we go here's the big test
oh
nail down this end
huh
give it a jiggle
there we go i had some sandpaper here
somewhere
i found this little bit it's not very
coarse but i can just
tidy it up
bring that in can you see that
it's not the neatest of jobs but
it certainly does what i need it to do
so now let's slide the cupboard back in
place and see if it fits
there we have it
cupboard fits in nice and snug
and there we go i did it i actually feel
pretty pleased with myself
i've never done that before i had very
little information to go on
so i kind of made it up as i went with
my
seven dollar tool and i did a bloody
good job
yay so i hope you learned something and
if you've got a little job around the
house that you need to do
have a go because it can be fun and when
you get it right
it feels good see you next time
