all right you want to know how to click
clip parrot wings I'm going to try to
show you how to do it using my bird here
he's full feathered on both sides - I
think a wing one feather so what we're
going to do is pull out the feather the
wing and as we pull it out you'll see
that the outside wings or the flight
feathers and those are the ones that we
want to clip in this case there's going
to be four or five of them you don't
need to clip the feather all the way
down to the to the wing itself to the
bone you can clip it out about this form
also if there's any darkness in the
feather at the base of the feather don't
clip it because that's blood
so only clip part of the feather that's
white I'll try to show you what I'm
talking about you're just going to have
to sit a little closer to your monitor
here here we go
and let's try this now I recommend doing
this with a towel and you'll see why in
a minute I'm going to try to do this
without a paddle
relax so what we're going to do is just
pick up the wing grab it
obviously going to do a very careful and
then right up here on the feathers are
like hair they don't have any nerve
endings in them don't like fingernails
so you just do the Hat
and clip right there we can do the same
thing to the other side turn them around
okay just pick it up you can hold one
feather up and then just clip and clip
these two there we go look at the last
one
we're done now to make sure that I got a
lot of comments in my other videos that
it's really cruel to clip a bird and by
doing so it gives them the ability to do
nothing and that's not really true
you're not clipping their feathers so
they can drop to the floor you're
clipping their feathers so they can
glide away safely what you don't want is
you don't want your bird that you love
and care for and nurture to fly away out
the window or out the door so by
clipping their feathers and not cutting
them down to the bone you are allowing
them to have some type of flight that
not maintain level flight so if I were
to let her fly she would not go out
level she would glide about ten feet out
and fall and would not fall and land
land down to the ground that's exactly
what you want so I've done this for
years I know how far clipped you haven't
which is why you're watching this video
and I appreciate you guys watching the
video I would after doing it the first
time I would take your bird out in the
living room or in a closed area and I
would let them fly across the room if
they maintain level flight bring it back
in the bathroom cut a wing feather off
on each side take them out in the living
room do it again do it enough so the
bird can land comfortably but can't get
away from you once you've done that
you've mastered it okay everybody thanks
for watching and have a great day and
enjoy the life of your bird
