Need up to 30 seconds to load.
this is the countertop end cap that has
been giving me so much trouble to start
off with these are some of the tools
that you might need to take off that
edge
i went out and bought these little
shears they're really for carpet
to get the little ends snipped off but
we're gonna try it on this and of course
you're gonna need a file
i don't know about this vice grip i
might have to
break a little bit off after i scored
with this
all right so you may find that you need
some other tools but these are the ones
that we're going to use today i put some
tape on it and i tried scoring it right
there and then on the other side
what we're going to do is use another
method
all right y'all so the goal is to foul
this down
almost
to this edge file
with the motion going
towards
because if you go
this way you're going to pull this flap
off
so you want to
go
in a motion towards that and once you
get down to the level of the countertop
it's going to kind of leave a beveled
edge
now yeah with something like this it's
always a best bet
to clean as you go so that you can
actually see where you're at to make
sure that you're not going too far down
to the countertop
now as you go along make sure you run
your finger along that's going to kind
of keep you in line so that you don't
get too
far down and then you'll also see
like little pieces of the glue
coming up
and that's an indicator that you're
getting
close to the countertop
so after every three strokes
just kind of rub it with your finger
make sure you're not going down too deep
so that'll leave you a nice little edge
now y'all y'all come up to this edge
right here
you're gonna have to change directions
because there's no way i can do that
without hitting that so you just come
back this way
keep checking on it okay
use smaller strokes when you get right
in here in this little area okay
another thing i don't think i told you
this
rest
file has a kind of more finer side and
then it also has a rougher side and as
you can see i got a little divot there
and i think i was being a little bit too
aggressive with this rougher side so
that's one thing please be careful with
that okay yeah now i have to try to fix
that sometimes all right y'all i changed
over a little bit to this rounded one
just so i could get in this rounded area
a little bit smoother
now it takes a little bit of working but
you can do it
just go slow
your time
and you can get that profile okay
okay y'all it's cleaned up check this
out that edge is nice and smooth right
there
i think we did an excellent job so in
order to get our second countertop end
cap trimmed what we're going to use on
this side is our little palm router i
have a flush cut trim bit in here and
what it's going to do is going to ride
along this edge
down here and it's going to cut away
this
all right
now still have to use our
file or wrasse or whatever you want to
call it and of course this one to get
into that little edge right there
[Music]
oh my god that is so lovely
all right so i left a little teeny bit
at the top because i was a little bit
nervous and for some reason down here i
got a little too close but that's okay
so what we're gonna do now
is we're going to take off this oh
probably
i don't even know
3 16 of an inch
in the same manner
and it won't take me nearly as long same
concept
all right folks so we got our camera top
end caps in place we use two different
methods we use the palm router with a
flush cut trim bit and then on the other
one we use some little snips
and both of them we use a file or rest
however you want to see it
and i think they both came out great of
course we had a few little mishaps thank
you so much for watching now if you
