that's what busts your grocery budget up
[Music]
hi friends welcome to moms and money
where we talk about making money
managing money and saving money for the
women in the household
man you guys it's been so long so so
long since i've been over here on this
channel we've been hard at work over on
my other channel marriage and motherhood
so if you want to keep up with me and
what's going on in my personal life
check out my other channel
marriage and motherhood but over here on
moms and money i'm back
and i miss y'all and so
let's just go ahead and get started
first of all these grocery prices are
astronomical i mean crazy it has just
been it gets worse and worse and worse
as a matter of fact i went shopping over
the weekend for memorial day and i
wanted to get some ribs to put on the
grill for my family and honestly they
were so expensive that i just didn't
even
bother to buy any and i said just forget
it i mean it's just getting crazy so
today i thought i would share with you
five ways to combat increasing
increasing grocery prices and honestly
you guys from what i read in the news it
is not going to stop up anytime soon as
a matter of fact it's probably going to
get worse as gas and fuel prices
continue to increase so the number one
thing that i'm going to share is to
obviously shop the sales now i know this
is going to take a little bit more time
and energy you guys but if we want to
it's either we could save the time or we
save the money and right now with the
prices being the way they are i would
choose saving the money okay give up a
little bit of netflix get up give up a
little bit of scrolling on your phone so
that you can take the time to shop the
sales
which means you'll have to go to
multiple stores and i used to like when
i was on my um debt-free journey and we
were really focused on getting out of
debt i used the cash envelope
system for groceries and eating out
because it really limited me
as to what i needed to buy for my family
now my children were really young at the
time as a matter of fact i don't even
think ava was born my youngest i we just
had just had zara and so
it was really like i was just buying
groceries for my husband and i because
you know i breastfeds are for a long
time and you know babies don't eat that
much of course the diapers and all that
is a different story but
i instead of shopping the sales i would
just shop the sales at my one particular
store because i just didn't have the
time to shop at multiple stores because
i was a new mom i worked outside of the
home 40 plus hours a week with an hour
plus commute each way i just did not
have the time to go to multiple stores
but if you really want to save the money
you have to go to multiple stores if you
don't have the time then just shop the
sales at your store which means you want
to stock up on certain things as they go
on sale whatever your store of choice is
for me at the time i think it was publix
between publix and kroger so i would
just shop the sales between there but
now that i have a little bit more time
and i can dedicate more time to shopping
the sales my store rotation is like five
stores it's costco it's kroger it's
public publix it's ingles and it's
walmart sam's club that's six stores
that i go on i look at the flyers and i
will shop the sales and kind of like
stock up on the things that are on sale
because you you may never see that price
again look at the price of chicken wings
who would have got you're going to pay
the same amount for chicken breasts as
you are for chicken wings like you would
have never thought that a couple of
years ago but look where we are okay so
you definitely want to take the time
shop the sales understand how the flyers
work in your in your um area and what
what day the sales turn over so you can
try to stock up and get the things that
you need so that kind of ties into
number two which is shopping at multiple
stores okay shop at multiple stores to
get multiple deals okay and then you can
meal plan
around uh the stores that you shop at
and the sales that are the things that
are going to be on sale because usually
they'll share with you a couple of days
prior to before the sale starts what's
on sale and then you could do your meal
plan based upon what's on sale for that
week or what you have in your freezer or
your pantry okay again it takes more
time but again it's really hard to save
time and money okay this time we're
focusing on saving money because like i
said the groceries are just eating up
people's budgets it's just eating it up
and you don't want to just you know
derail your plans for paying off debt or
your plans for your sinking funds or
your investments or anything like that
because of groceries so you want to do
what you can you know to save on these
things so and if that means giving up a
little bit a little bit of time number
three is you want to get organized take
the time to meal plan
take the time to figure out what you're
stockpiling what you have in your
stockpile i have printables that you can
purchase from my store the link is in
the description box that will help you
organize it into a pretty binder so i
have my home organization binder and in
here
i have how much i have in my freezer
what's in my pantry my grocery list
my current home inventory
i can do my monthly meal plan i could do
my weekly meal plan
and all these printables are located
like i said
in my store
in the description box if you're a pen
and paper type of person or you could do
it all in excel or digitally i also use
the google keep app to kind of keep
myself organized what i need at the
store maybe what's on sale as i go
through the flyers each week i use the
flip app and the flip app is amazing
because all of your store your locally
you put your um zip code in and all of
your local store flyers will come up you
can go to each flyer and then you use
your google keep app to put in at each
store what's on sale so i have a list in
google keep and this is what google keep
looks like so i have a list for each
store i have a costco list i have a
kroger list i have a publix list
based on what's on sale on the flyer
i'll just add it onto my list i do that
as well and then i also will put the
stuff down on pen and paper what i'm
we're gonna have that week what i'm
gonna go ahead and put in my freezer
what i'm gonna stockpile in my freezer
what i'm gonna stockpile in my pantry if
you guys want more detailed videos on
this leave a comment down below maybe
i'll do video over on my other channel
marriage and motherhood about organizing
your freezer organizing your pantry i've
done several videos over the years but i
can do an updated one for you guys but
you definitely want to get organized
because that's key because if you're all
over the place girl that's where your
money will be all over the place too all
right we're coming up to number five i
think because i skipped one we said shop
the sales shop at multiple stores
stockpile on the sales i don't think i
talked about that one but i kind of did
you want to stockpile on the sale so if
it's a buy one get one girl stock up if
it's something that your family eats
stock up on it and you can budget for
these like stockpile purchases because
it may make your grocery budget a little
bit more but it'll all it'll be less at
the end of the day that's why i'm so i
focus on the annual budget so much
because if you stock up on the sales
maybe for the week your grocery you may
go over your grocery budget but it's
gonna save you in the long run because
you're you're buying them at a buy one
get one price so if it's something that
your family enjoys a lot and it's on
bogo which is buy one get one stock up
on it so that you have at least enough
until it goes back on sale a cycle on
sale within the next couple of weeks so
definitely shop the sales stock up
on the sale items so you can stock up on
your pantry and you can stock up on your
freezer we're gonna get organized number
four is to get organized
organize your stuff organize your
thoughts organize what you have either
on pen and paper on google keep or use a
combination of both like what i do and
then the fifth thing we're doing all of
this okay this is the most important
part okay we're doing all of this so you
can cook what you have at home
so you can go into the pantry and say oh
i have this this and this this is gonna
be on my meal plan today go on your
freezer i have this this and this this
is what's going to be on my meal plan
for the week
cook what you have at home all those
eating out and oh those quick grocery
runs for things that aren't planned
that's what busts your butt your grocery
budget up so you definitely want to cook
what you have in your pantry and in your
freezer so that it doesn't waste y'all
that's another way that we waste so much
money on groceries is we allow the food
to waste we don't cook it or spoil we
don't cook it in time cook what you have
remember this is just a small season of
your life i'm not saying that you'll
never eat out again or you can't enjoy a
meal with your family out to eat of
course with those planned meals but it's
the unplanned stuff that can really
cause havoc on your budget so these are
my tips to help fight these rising
grocery prices leave a comment down
below and let me know what do you do to
help with rising grocery prices because
i know we're all feeling it in our
wallets at this time thank you guys so
much for watching make sure to give this
video a thumbs up it really helps my
channel out and i will see you guys in
the next video
bye
