hi there I'm in Lampton and I'm gonna
show you how to cut a large piece of
glass without breaking it hopefully
first thing I'm gonna say is that get
the right tools I used this cheap Home
Depot brand husky glass cutter and I
broke a couple pieces the wrong way and
that was really not fun but this five
dollar cutter cost me $50 piece of glass
and so I really recommend getting a
really nice color like this toyou glass
cutter which is $25 just for 20 more
dollars you can save yourself a much
much more expensive piece of glass and
then you'll be much happier as well so
what another thing is that you have to
score the glass side up rather than the
foil side on the bottom if you score the
foil side there's chance they'll only
score the foil and not actually the
glass and so therefore you want to
actually get the right breaking action
so so you have to score with the shiny
side up and do it all in one long pass
I've got this clamped down so that it
won't move and starting on one end all
with a nice pressure making a scratching
sound
make sure you get your edges really well
otherwise you'll end up with a little
notch on the on the edge okay so now we
unclamp and then a lot of suggested ways
of cutting this usually involved the
edge of the table and snapping it but I
found a more reliable way of dealing
with this problem is taking your
straightedge and inserting it underneath
the piece of glass
Thanks
and then centering it so that the
straightedge is right in the middle of
the crack there we go
and then with one action on the short
side of the glass just give it a little
one whack in that little crack
adrenaline glass all right so I'm gonna
clamp down this side to keep this side
from popping out
all right one more time there we go and
so there you go perfect cut no need no
danger of accidentally getting off the
edge of the table or anything like that
like having the table crack it unevenly
and it just like splits right in the
middle like a teepee so that's it that's
it
