let's go
[Music]
in this video i'm going to teach you how
to trim your hedges and we're going to
take your shrubs from just having an
average look to upgrade into an awesome
curb appeal and it doesn't matter if
you're a beginner nor does it matter
what type of trimmer that you have these
simple steps is going to have your
shrubs looking immaculate so when you're
trimming these bushes the one thing you
don't want to do when you're making your
first pass on these bushes is you don't
want to take off too much
take your trimmer and lay it
just right on the bush just like that
that's when you want to start talking
taking off that's where you want to
start at you want to lay it there don't
dig it into the bush and then start
taking off too much just put it on there
lay it let it go across first and then
you will start to
develop a smooth edge going around the
bush once you lay it on there and you
start developing your smooth edge then
you will have something to go off of
when you're going around the bush and
then making your circle or whatever type
whatever you're doing as far as a circle
or a square
but
don't dig it all the way down in the
bush and then start taking it off all
the way down to the branches because
you're going to be cutting off too much
hair just don't need to be cut down that
much now when i'm trimming the hedge
what i like to do is i like to start
from the bottom
and then go
up so i'll start from the bottom and
i'll basically do it in the pattern i'll
start from the bottom just lay it on
there gently and then go up and then
move over start from the bottom and then
go up
same thing going all the way around the
bush and then you will see as i'm going
around it how is shaping everything and
i'm just going to basically follow that
entire shape
all right
all right so these bushes are done just
for now what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna
go ahead just for the sake of time and
i'm gonna knock all the rest of these
out and i'll come back and i'll show you
what they look like and then i'll show
you what the cleanup process is because
i know a lot of people are saying hey
you didn't put a tarp down you didn't
put a tarp down i'm going to show you
how to clean up processes on these lava
rocks
[Music]
so what if you're in a situation if the
bushes are
touching each other well if they're both
growing into each other where you can't
see no sign of daylight anywhere then
what i'll do is i'll shape both of them
together this here what i'm going to do
is i'm going to take my hedge trimmer
and i'm going to go directly straight up
on this for this bush and i'm gonna go
directly straight up for this bush so
there's gonna be a little gap in between
it's just a new growth it's just trying
to grow into each other but i'm gonna
separate both of them but if you have
two bushes that are growing into each
other
don't try to sit up there especially if
you're gonna be taking out a whole lot
of the shrub
don't try to make them individual if
they're both growing into each other
this right here i can be able to
separate
[Music]
now one thing to take into consideration
when you're trimming these bushes when
you're coming across the top all of this
new growth you're going to move the new
growth
with your trimmer okay
come across the top move the new growth
with your trimmer once again you're
going to just sit it just right on it
you're not going to dig into it just get
that new growth off and you're going to
move it from side to side you'll see it
as you're brushing it off like a broom
all right everything is trimmed but what
i'm about to do right now is i'm about
to take my rake and i'm just going to
rake off some of the clippings that are
all on top of the bushes some of the
excess clippings i'm going to rake those
things off just kind of clean it off a
little bit see what i'm doing see all
them extra clippings are gone
and it still has a nice little edge
around top of it
now if you don't have a rake like what i
have
use your hand
that's all you're doing
cleaning them off
so this is how i would clean them up
i'll use my blower
i'll blow very lightly and i'll blow in
a circle you see
see those little things right there see
those clippings
blow too hard
see how we're just lightly just moving
the clippings and not the lava rocks
and i'll blow it all into their first
little strip
[Music]
the first little strip of grass that's
what i'm looking for
all right here we go folks this is
pretty much about it
so what i did was
i took my blower moved in a circle i did
have to stay in this area for a while to
get all of those clippings out
and i blew them
into these first little three little
areas
i raised my i took my push more raised
my push more all the way up to the top
and i went over it several times to sit
up here and get all the clippings out
but this is what it looks like
all of the bushes are level
none of them's taller than the other
all of the clippings are out of the lava
rock
everything is good to go now i've used a
tarp on this before and the tarp just
gave me just more problems i'm stepping
all on it
i was dragging the clippings putting
them all in the rocks and they was
getting in the rocks anyway so i was
just like you know what i'm just not
going to use a tarp on this i'm just
going to go ahead and then just cut it
and then i'll blow all of the clippings
out now make sure that when you're
blowing all the clippings out there make
sure that you're blowing it lightly and
you're blowing it into a circle of
motion and you're just barely just
touching the rock just touching the rock
touching the rock they'll they'll move
eventually but if you want to use a tarp
go ahead and use a tarp just on this one
i normally don't use a tarp because i
was just getting clippings all in the
rocks anyway so might as well just cut
it without it so that is pretty much
about it i hope that you all enjoyed
this video
this is what it looks like
and
get you just a view from down here
looks pretty good
one thing's for sure two things for
certain just know
that we work
[Music]
