hello everybody in this video we are
going to look at some different ways
that you can order whisky in English so
the first one if you want a little glass
like this you can say one shot of
whiskey this is called a shot the glass
is called a shot glass if you drink the
whole glass at one time that is called
taking a shot so maybe your friend says
hey let's take shots do you want to take
a shot you can say no I don't want to
take a shot I'm fine
no thank you or you could say yeah let's
take a shot that would be fun up to you
um so that's a shot you can tell the
bartender one shot of whiskey please two
shots of whiskey please
but maybe it's a more expensive whiskey
and you want to really enjoy the flavor
you want to sip on it you want to drink
it slowly then you would order a whiskey
neat
whiskey neat just means you take the
shot of whiskey and it's probably in a
glass it might be in a shot glass but
probably in a glass if it's a nicer
whiskey so whiskey neat just means from
the bottle no ice no anything okay so we
have shot we have whiskey neat the next
one is whiskey up up means that we have
this whiskey neat and we also have ice
so I take some ice and I take my whiskey
and now the whiskey is cold but there is
no ice in the glass it's just a glass of
cold whiskey with no ice this is called
whiskey up so neat means from the bottle
up means from the bottle but first you
mix it with ice and then you take out
the ice so this is whiskey up next one
is whiskey on the rocks and on the rocks
just means rocks means ice so on the
rocks means you have ice and whiskey
so that is whiskey on the rocks rocks
not rock rocks so shot of whiskey
take a shot if it's in a glass no ice
and it's not cold it's neat if it's in a
glass and it is cold but there's no ice
in the glass it's up and if it's in the
glass with ice like this it is on the
rocks
