so how do you request a replacement car
title online well the bad news is in
most cases you can't actually request to
get a title for a car just through a
website because most states that issue
titles through their DMV or through the
government agency they want to make sure
that the person is asking for a title
actually deserves the title like they're
the owner of the car because if you
could just do it online that anybody
could order title for your car without
showing ID and you wouldn't want that to
happen so most car title requests
through a DMV for a replacement need an
ID you have to show who you are to make
sure that they're given the title to the
rightful owner they're not giving it to
just somebody who wants a title for a
car now you might be able to download
the forms online if you go to the DMV
almost every state has the form you need
to do for a title request online you can
download it print it from your computer
fill it out and sign it you'll probably
have to mail it to them or bring it to
them in person they want to see the
signature and ID of the person asking
for the title so they know when they
send out a title which is the legal
ownership document that has value
they're not just sending it to somebody
who's a criminal so they want to make
sure it's actually you getting your
title because you wouldn't want somebody
else getting your title make sure you're
also dealing with the actual DMV website
the actual DMV source not some online
title place because first of all they
can be collecting your private
information they could be charging you
fees that don't really belong with that
request so you want to make sure you're
dealing directly with the DMV just
because it has the word DMV in the -
doesn't mean it's the actual website
look to make sure it's a gov or some
government website and verify that's the
case before you start putting in
information or sending in money online
title requests are usually not possible
there's a few exceptions some states
have a way that they can verify your
identity by putting in your license
number or making sure it goes to the
address that's already on the title but
for the most part you have to print out
the form sign it and mail it's not that
hard to do usually it's pretty
straightforward in most cases you can't
get a title instantly anyways they have
to mail you the documents not something
they can email or text to you a title is
a legal paper document you probably seen
it's like money and has scrollwork on
the outside it's not just something
that's a database product so they're
gonna have to mail to you in postal
envelope anyways so sending something to
them sit and it might add a couple days
but it's not the end of the world then
you'll have a legal document that you
can use to transfer that car sell it or
even get insurance on it sometimes
requires a title
