Turo is an app on you can get on your
smartphone you can go to their website
and it provides an outlet for people to
rent cars from owners rather than from a
rental service like national or
enterprise or Avis it's kind of like
uber in the fact that it's very user
friendly it's just right there on the
app and the only difference is the
customer drives the car not me
[Music]
so I have a 2011 Volkswagen TDI Touareg
with the executive trim level and I have
a 2017 Raptor that I've been renting out
for about two two and a half months now
what is the rental price for a brand-new
Ford Raptor Jake set the rental price at
two hundred and fifty dollars a day
his VW Touareg is going for $45 my pride
and joy right now
cool so could you actually use it and
pick it out yourself I do yeah I do I've
moved here a year and a half ago and
since then and since I've got this I've
been exploring some of the trails around
Colorado the Switzerland trail where you
guys do goldmine hill and the cascade
creek trail over Dino Springs and always
looking for other places to go but so
you do have some cars on the wrapper a
little bit right trail damage hail
damage yeah so the Raptors come with
three interior packages the 808 8:01
8:02 a and I got the mid-range the 801
which is about three thousand dollars
over the base cost so I require a $500
deposit straight up on this that's one
thing that I wish tour would change is
enforce the deposit through the app but
I asked for it on the side I asked
people not to take my truck offroad
otherwise that forfeits your deposit
t'rul provides insurance and as an owner
you have four different tiers of
protection that you can choose from
which the base being none and then Turo
takes a 10% cut out of the total revenue
then there's a next level up they take a
15% cut which is pretty basic insurance
there's a $3,000 max out-of-pocket cost
to you the next tier up they provide a
million dollars in liability coverage
and rental rental coverage rental income
loss they give you a replacement car
while yours is being repaired that one
takes a 25% cut and then the top tier
they take a 35% cut with a few more
perks so if you've got the app set up on
your phone you'll find my ad there click
on it it'll give you all the details
pricing insurance information which is
provided by Toro also mileage limits
things like that and my own personal
guidelines which is different for
everybody and you just click your button
enter your credit card information and
it books the trip for you here's my
Touareg right it's a diesel so it is a
whole you know emissions thing with us
huh yeah yeah there's the TDI diesel
scandal the 2-liter diesel from the
Passat and zetas and so forth that one
is that settlement is done they're
already paying out on this this one's
supposed to be settled within the next
month or so people like the Oval drive
car in Colorado right absolutely in fact
I think that's probably been the biggest
selling point for the for the car
a lot of people that I've rented with or
who have rented with me they take care
of my car as good as or better than I do
I had had some recent disconcerting
experiences where it came back smelling
like Colorado's favorite herb so that
but that offers me the opportunity to
get it cleaned and then I can request a
reimbursement for whatever cost I set my
own price but there is also automatic
pricing through Toro and that seems kind
of a simple a little too simple in my
opinion stages death could enter the
market value of your car and then they
give you a daily rate but I've opted to
do set mine on my own yeah I would
recommend it I've had a good experience
overall and I've had the time to do it
it's been a great way to supplement
income and and facilitate payments on to
vehicles that it wasn't planning on at
the time
so would you rent out your brand-new
pickup truck or a car on the service
lectura
well if you have several vehicles and
you need the additional income this is
definitely an option to consider
I want to thank Jake for sharing his
vehicles and his story with me go back
to t FL truck comm former news views and
real world
