Depression is more than feeling sad.
Some symptoms aren't as obvious:
Losing interest in your favorite hobbies or activities
Feeling tired all the time
Not eating enough—or eating too much
Oversleeping or having trouble sleeping
Having trouble concentrating or remembering
Depression can also make pain or other physical symptoms worse.
Some people with depression also have anxiety.
Depression is common: 16 million U.S. adults experienced it in 2015.
With help, depression can be effectively treated.
Counseling, medication or both can be helpful.
