How to quit smoking without gaining weight.
Well, this is a bit of a difficult situation.
There are two reasons for this.
One is that nicotine itself is an appetite suppressant.
It also speeds up metabolism.
So this is two things.
What I have found as the third thing is that most people use a cigarette to end the meal
and tell their stomach 'meal done!'
So because it's an appetite suppressant, people will just not eat anymore after they've had
their cigarette after the meal.
I'm here to tell you that I gained a substantial amount of weight when I quit smoking.
But what I was told by my support system is process, process, process.
You will work on losing the weight once you're more comfortable at being a non smoker.
Wouldn't it would a shame to die of a heart attack but yet be skinny?
You know, so as you can see, I am not obese and I'm not overweight anymore.
And you may not be someone who gains weight.
The average weight gain is seven to ten pounds.
Some people lose weight.
It really depends on your metabolism; everyone's different, as you know.
Some people can eat and eat and eat and never gain a pound.
Some people gain weight by just looking at food.
So my suggestion to you is to become a non smoker and then work on any weight that you
might gain.
Another suggestion is to eat as much sensible food that you can.
I carried sunflower seeds, I used pretzel rods.
I used celery sticks and carrot sticks as much as possible even thought I didn't like
them.
Whatever I could do to help feed the need in a healthy way.
And then every now and then I'd have a sundae or eat some fries or whatever it was.
But my support system kept telling me "Don't worry about the weight gain right now.
ou'll work on it once you have more energy; once you quit smoking.
The smoking depletes your energy."
So that's my suggestion.
Is that you remember the word 'process' and work at one thing at a time.
