hi and thanks for joining me for another
business communication tip where we keep
it short simple and specific in this
video I'm going to answer the question
should you include your references on
your resume but first what is the
purpose of a resume well the purpose is
to help you get an interview does
including your references on your resume
help you get the interview no usually it
doesn't there is no need to include your
references on your resume especially
because your resume should be no more
than two pages and if you're showcasing
and promoting your work experience your
education your volunteer experience your
skills and your accomplishments the
chances are that you won't have enough
space to include your references also
make sure you do not include the phrase
references will be provided upon request
there is no need to include that
sentence because recruiters hiring
managers and employers know that if they
ask you for references you should be
able to provide them also and this is
extremely important you need to be able
to manage your references this means
that if you think that an employer will
be contacting your references make sure
to tell your references to expect an
email or a phone call from that
particular employer this is something
very professional and it shows respect
for your references but sometimes
employers ask in the job advertisement
that you do provide references what
should you do in that situation well
create a separate document a one-page
document where you list your references
and their contact information just make
sure that you have the same professional
header on your references document that
you have on your resume and on your
cover letter so if the employer is
asking for references even before you go
to the interview your application
package should consist of a ref of a
cover letter your resume a maximum of
two pages and a third document which is
a list of your references I hope this
tip was useful for you and as always if
you have any comments or questions
please make sure to include them in the
comment section below
