in the previous Linux tutorials we've

been using the LS command to list out

the contents of the current working

directory now by default the LS command

will not display hidden files but what

is a hidden file well hidden files are

very useful especially in programming

because many hidden files hold

configuration and settings that tell the

application or perhaps the server that

the application is sitting on how to

behave so for example you could have a

dot htaccess file with perhaps some

values for changing PHP settings and

also manipulating your web server now

you could also have hidden files in git

so you can have an get ignore file that

has different rules and patterns on what

other files and folders are hidden from

the git repository or so you could have

a docker ignore file that hides things
