hey guys and welcome to another episode
tutorial with me Joseph Evans author of
the Sacre sequence the Phoenix prophecy
and the ember facts so today I'm going
to show you how to get your characters
hugging and kissing in your episode
stories and now this is something that I
did struggle with when I first started
writing four episodes and the reason for
that is that it's very tricky to know
which positions your characters have to
be in to get this animation to work
properly if they're in the wrong
positions what will happen is they'll
overlap strangely and it will look like
some kind of technical glitch so let's
get straight into it here I have a scene
set up already and I'm going to drop
some characters in now the first thing
you need to know about hugging and
kissing is that you have to have one
character in the center of the screen
and your other character on either the
right or the left of the screen the up
screen left and up screen right
positions don't work at all in these so
just bear that in mind so let's put
secory in the center of the screen here
so secre stands screen Center and sucker
II is going to face left and then let's
put a stand screen left and a faces
right now there's two commands for
hugging one is hug and the other is hug
rear and the hug command always has to
be assigned to the character who's on
the left or the right of the screen and
the hug rear command has to be assigned
to the character who is in the center of
the screen so in this case a is on the
left so a is going to do hug and secrex
going to do hugger ear so a is hug and
secory is hug RIA so you can put that
all on the same line there so let's just
quickly save that and we will take a
look at what it looks like
okay that is looking good so the great
thing about hugging in episode is that
you can flip the male and female
characters so let's put secory in the
screen left position and area in the
screen center position and it will still
work I'll just show you what it looks
like so let's let's restart this here
and let's put so secory stand screen
left and secre faces faces right and
then a stands screen Center and a a
faces left so all we need to do here now
is instead of having a a duty hug
animation she's going to do her guria
and sector is going to be the one that
does the normal hug so let's do area is
agree up and secory is hug save that one
and take a quick look okay another great
thing about hugging is that you can
actually have two male characters
hugging each other or two female
characters hugging each other which is
really useful in some stories so let's
restart our scene again here and we're
going to have secre and tank hugging
each other so let's put the secre east
and screen left this time and sacrifices
right and then tank is the one who's
going to be standing screen Center so
tank stand screen Center and tank faces
left and then because tank is the one in
the screen center he's going to do her
Guria and secretary is going to be the
one doing hug so let's do secre is hug
and tank is hug RIA and he is exactly
what that looks like so as you can see
it actually looks like these two male
characters are kissing instead of
hugging which can be really useful for
some stories so keep that in mind if you
do want to have two male characters
kissing in your story just use the hug
and her Grier commands instead so let's
just reset the scene once again and
we're going to have a and Luca hugging
so let's put a she stands screen left
and AF faces right and then look stand
screen Center and look faces left and
then a is hug because she's on the left
hand side and local because she's screen
Center is going to be hug Rhea save
again and here is a clip of that okay so
that is hugging all covered I think so
let's go straight on to kissing we're
going to restart our scene once again
now before I go into this there are a
few restrictions on kissing the first is
that you can only have a male character
kissing a female character so like I
said earlier if you do want to have two
male characters kissing I would
recommend using the hug animations
instead because it does look more like
the kissing in that one if you want two
female characters kissing it doesn't
seem to be anything at the moment that
looks that accurate I probably recommend
using the hug ones for that as well
that's the first restriction this second
restriction is that the male character
has to be screened Center in these
kissing scenes and the female character
has to be either screen left or screen
right for some reason you can't have the
female character in the middle and the
male character on either side it has to
be very specific
with that in mind let's put SEK rescreen
Center so Sakura stands screen Center
and secre faces left and then they stand
screen left and a faces right now there
is something very strange about the
kissing animation that I think is
probably causing a lot of people a lot
of grief and that is that there is some
kind of technical glitch in that the
male character for some reason
automatically when you when you tell him
to kiss he faces the opposite direction
and goes in for the kiss that way so
what you need to do is actually direct
them in the wrong way to get them facing
the right way so I'll just show you what
I mean here so let's do secre is kiss
and here is kiss now that was what you
would expect it to look like and that's
probably what a lot of people are doing
and I'm getting wrong results with so
the only thing we need to add in here to
kind of combat that glitch is you need
to put secory faces right which is
obviously the obstacle to what we want
him to face and then secre is kiss and
that will correct that thing so because
we want him facing left we're going to
have to command him the face right it
sounds very strange I know and but this
is the only way it's going to work so
sacrifices right on Sakura's kiss and
AAA's kiss so let's save that and see if
that works
yep that is looking great so the only
thing I forgot to mention was that
because of the restrictions on the
kissing scenes there is no kiss RIA
commands like it is for hug
so it's labeled as kiss for both male
and female characters the female
character will always face the camera
and the male character will
automatically always face away from the
camera so just remember it's not kiss
underscore RIA for the kissing ones it's
just kiss and kiss so yeah that is it
