- So one is called the football hold,

and the football hold is great

for a mom who's had a C-section or has very large breasts.

So you're gonna take your right hand

and go behind her head,

thumb on one ear,

your index finger on the other ear,

and you're gonna hold your breast with your left hand

and kind of lift your breast up

so that your nipple is level with her nose

and just rub her lip,

and as soon as she opens up, you just bring her right in.

Just like that, okay?

Make sure she's on deep, and it shouldn't hurt.

And the cross cradle hold is good

because you have a lot of head control for the baby,

'cause babies don't have a lot of head control

in the beginning.

So you're gonna take your left hand,

and you're gonna hold your breast,

and you're gonna put her nose level with your nipple

and rub her upper lip and her nose,

and as soon as she opens up, you just bring her right in.

And then you can take this hand if you want and relax it

or you can keep your hand there and compress your breast

to get her a little more milk.
