look at this this is why you've been
warming up our mornin to dump great
great job
the one in France is even better guys
it's Rick shields and done with to go
down here at Qwest Golf Academy here at
Prairie Sports Village oh great shot and
we're going to talk about how to hit a
draw and not really needing to use your
hands to do so yeah I mean that's a lot
of players conception it to hit draw
you've got to kind of wrap people fate
on down the ball and that is not true
yeah pull some data from that and you
were you discuss that point done so we
get a lot of guys start talking about
what thinking that you've got to use
your hands a lot in this kind of manner
through impact in order to create draw
well that is not the case no you know I
like him freaking having talked about
this for a while is that a no hands draw
yeah because you can actually not feel
like you manipulating your hands
whatsoever and still here draw you don't
need to the fact is the contact time
ball on face is so minut that actually
any influence you have on face to ball
doesn't make any difference the
curvature the ball knows how it was hit
it knows the path that knows the angle
of attack ik that was the face direction
it was a strike that's what's measuring
it it's not like other sports where
there's there's a longer contact period
between let's say racket and ball yeah
battle ball or whatever it may be Club
on ball is very my new I don't even know
what is the actual it's milliseconds
into it's for ten thousandth of a second
so I thought so as I look at that data I
was very interesting how would I
actually hit draw believe it all up so
we see some data we see a path that hit
seven point eight degrees from the
inside we saw a face it was actually 0.2
degrees open which shouldn't have hit a
draw yeah all right if it did it would
have hit a tiny tiny walk but because
that Club isn't designed for you yeah
it's alright so up actually made the
loft turn but further to the left
because dumb leave you know this he it's
straight golf shots
anyway we've managed to help him hit a
droid by getting the club that's not
suited to him but but what we're looking
at there is the fact that the face was
almost level with path the toast that
opened it turned but that's not kind of
what we're discussing we've discussed
the idea that manipulation of the face
isn't always necessary no should I give
it a go I mean it's realness this is
this is a draw goal shut down grunting
give it a lovely girl shop this is this
is all right this is my expertise okay
yeah so what do you think are the
important factors and we just get this
screen back on what are the things that
absolutely require tech draw well you
know we need a pass that goes from inter
out yet face that sits left of path but
open to target yes how if I is going to
do that okay so first thing that most
people feel when the Toronto ed rall
just started learning it is that
starting that clubface to the right of
the target line so they obviously look
at it thinking it's going to be open
yeah you know put the got to be able to
do that because particularly on an iron
the ball is coming off at 90 degrees to
the face yeah
it's so the flat of the face the flatter
the loft of a club the more the ball
starts in relation to where the face
aims
yes it's then the path and the
difference between face and path that
Christ's spin axes that gets the ball
turning to the left or to the right in
this case we want it turning away yeah
I'd also say ball slightly further back
in the stance hitting it slightly
earlier in the circle yeah so the circle
being the rotate the swing goes around
the body in a circular manner if we can
put the ball back you're more liked it
on the doubt on this inside of the
circle absolutely you're too far forward
you go inside level and then start to go
more on the left of that circle which is
great feeling fades no good fade draws
I've slept in pools yeah well I'm never
saying you don't need the hands so you
don't once you've got if you hit it in
throughout you and you start to use your
hands too much then you get that face
closing a ball students start left and
mr. green go further why yeah so board
position slightly back in the stance
we're looking at hitting the inside
the golf ball and just trust that that
face can actually aim slightly right of
target that's what's going to start the
ball to the right we do want that face
left of path but would you say would you
would you get a player to concentrate
too much on that no I wouldn't I've
gotten inside the ball with a face
that's just slightly right at sorry yeah
a more than light when the face will be
left of path anyway absolutely so I've
got back in the stance it's how you draw
a ball back
hey how's that draw this is a drop hey
let's go to light cameras I'm gonna go
straight over the cameras cameras stand
now that's the draw I forgot I had too
much Club that and too much Club for the
shot done you definitely are too much
Club so what we should see now because
if this club's slightly more fitted for
me in the lying go hey presto pretty
good will up yeah path doing everything
we don't want to do for me yeah I hit
eight point five degrees from the inside
my face was seven degrees close the path
but in relation to target that would be
open in fact I can tell you about how
much point four point six degrees open
to the straight line of target yes and
that's what created that absolutely I
mean the one thing that'd be interesting
for the last I think not people will
have been aware of when I played that
one that actually had a very small drawl
it is for a chance' dead straight shot
and is that that toe being up in the air
pointed the face left yet pointing the
loft left yet that's actually deadly one
anyone who's Bank rubs off the shelf
you're vertically challenged like me
again and custom fit
I just jealous because this is this is
one of my demo clubs I done didn't I
don't think you have a cyclops so much
yeah I've been like a kid in the sweet
shop in this studio today what's this
look like was this the like so this is
standard lie so when Dad hit it toe was
toe is more up in the air and you see
that typically with a lot with drivers
that's why drivers they're actually more
draw
biased that's why actually having a
driver more upright would have
neutralized that fly out you wouldn't
hook it quite as much yeah
because getting up getting that tow
further up the lot is going to start
throwing left yes so what we're trying
to say to hit a draw you do not need
rotation of the hands you don't need to
flip the face because that's not going
to work for you you need to be able to
hit the inside of the golf ball with the
face like the right of target but left
of path and then you need to have a club
that's fitted for you so it doesn't so
doctor too much I'm always say that a
great way for people if they have
traditionally flipped it with their
hands would be to actually maybe just
hit some half shots I feel like they're
almost just finishing in that position
or in it to them might feel like that
face is being slightly open but as long
as they're coming from the inside they
should see it draw every time yeah
definitely what I would also recommend
is that encourage that inside path don't
be massively scared of bring that board
position back and just slightly aligning
yourself to the right because again
that's going to encourage that inside
path you know don't don't have to aim
dead straight to hit right inside got
these old wives tales of usually hands
yeah so it'd be like a me face where you
want the ball to finish and then the
stance where you want the ball to start
yeah be disastrous because you just hook
hook it all day long so don't need to
hit hit draw with your hands you need to
be able to get the impact locations
correct you to have the path sight from
the inside face open to target but close
to path good quality strike and you will
get that beautiful draw without needing
to yawns absolutely nailed it guys
thanks for watching hope you've enjoyed
the video hopefully you guys enjoyed
bands beautiful little draw that your
hit should have seen the one in practice
it was phenomenal fact I might even put
at the end this video okay I think we
can do that stay tuned for the other
video to watch dad's first war workshop
thanks watching guys don't forget
subscribe to down subscribe to myself
comment below can you hit draws the
struggle hitting draws are you just
completely sick of the word draw do you
wish that you just are never that
actually never even happened guys thanks
for watching we'll see you all next time
