everybody and welcome back to Alex
Elliot golf and welcome back to a brand
new video so if you're new to this
channel don't forget to subscribe and
give this content the thumbs up plenty
of content coming throughout the summer
to help you in your game so what's
today's video all about today's video is
all about how we can hit these hybrids
consistently so these hybrids are
actually over the last kind of five
years ten years become more prolific
within the game and a lot of people
given carry them down to kind of is 6
hybrid replacing your 6 iron all the way
through so like a 5 4 & 3 hybrid in the
longer irons so why are they a lot
easier to hit and for me in my opinion a
lot of our misses should actually carry
more of these hybrids than the longer
irons in their set quatl all amateurs
actually very have very little distance
differences between canada 6 5 4 and if
they do carry 3 iron 3 iron as well and
that's purely because one they're very
hard to hit and 2 if you don't generate
a cloth club head speed
all those carry distances will be very
very similar so why are these hybrids
easier to hit than your traditional one
grinds well if we have a look at the
profile here for one the profile is a
little bit bigger and because of that
you can actually get the center of
gravity further back from the face and
lower so if you've got the sense gravity
further back and lower one it's going to
be a little bit more forgiving but also
it's gonna help you get that ball into
the air with less club head speed so
because of that you can actually get
this ball carrying further stopping on a
steeper angle of descent so holding more
greens of the younger ions not bouncing
and rolling through so if there's a lot
of benefits for having these hybrids so
today's video is all about how you
should stand to these the mentality
behind these hybrids and to give you a
really good feeling of how to create a
consistent hit with them I think a lot
of people and some kind of good players
feel they're not very versatile but in
my opinion I think the more people
should carry these hybrids I carry this
Adams hybrid here and I find it a very
very versatile club I feel like I hit it
high low and it's definitely my go-to
club off some tees especially with a
swimmer we've had here in the UK it's
very very fast and firm I Stephan Utley
a club I've used awful lot of tees and
into those par fives so let's get into
the thick of it and let's get into
talking about how it's done to this
hybrid and the feelings and thoughts
behind it so let's get into this and
let's get into how we're going to stand
this hybrid and how we're going to the
feelings are going to have when we hit
the shot now I think a lot of people
because it looks like a would be get
drawn into kind of setting it up like a
ward putting the blob position where you
would have a would and almost feel like
they've got to get in the air like they
do with a would off a tee now this is
for me is where a lot of people go wrong
with the hybrids I want you to actually
imagine this hybrid is an iron all is it
looks athletically differently I want
you to imagine it's an iron and that's
is gonna be how we're going to set up to
it like an iron how much you're gonna
the feelings through the ball like an
iron and how actually going to play with
it on the course so let's get into the
setup now a lot of people actually set
up to this hybrid actually have this
board position too far forward almost
have these shoulders like they'd set for
a drive and a 3-wood off a tee I'm
really try and feel they're gonna get
this ball into the air by hitting it on
the up whereas I want you to feel at
this ball position it's going to be a
club head inside your lead heel so if I
show you that there that ball position
is a club head inside my leave heel and
you can see that I easily set up put a
club head down and you could do this by
if you're practicing just put an
alignment stick down on the ground and
double checking that out that board
position is correct but if you're out on
the course your reference point is a
club head inside my lead heel and from
there you can see now I'm settled to
this club more like an iron I've not got
my shoulders tilted up and facing toward
the sky I've definitely got my shoulders
more on a flatter angle here a more
little steady angle so from there I want
it's the feelings I want you to have
through the golf balls I want you to
feel like you hitting this golf ball and
brushing that turf and what I mean by
that is I always to feel through the
golf ball to be able to brush that serve
and bruise that ground past the golf
ball lightly wooden iron I always feel
like you swing as low and as long on the
way through so for after the golf ball
this head is as far away as possible as
low as possible and from there I've
bruised the ground so for after the golf
ball the club head is as far away and as
low to the ground as possible with the
board of the club pointing back at my
belly button for me that gives me a
really good feeling giving me that
downward sit on the golf ball not a
squashing hit but a downward sit on the
golf ball bruising action and I'm not
helping get that ball in the air I think
like with long irons and sometimes like
people with driver and 3-wood they feel
they've got a scoop that ball up into
the air because they don't see a lot of
loft the BC is with
club with the sense of gravity further
back and lower you don't have to do this
it's really simple plate like an eye in
even though it looks a bit more like a
wood so let me go through that set up
the opposition of club but inside my
leave heel my feeling through the ball
to fit generate that really nice really
good consistent strike is that low to
the ground as possible on the way
through as foot after the golf ball if I
could replicate this position here give
me a bruising action past the golf ball
I'm definitely gonna create a really
nice crisp consistent strike but for me
the key point is that board position a
club head inside my lead Hill let's go
ahead and hit this one but a little bit
overcooked there but really nice hitting
a lovely strike and I really focused
there my swing thought on my feeling and
when I'm out on the golf course
especially when I'm playing a tournament
or even playing with friends I like to
have feelings and thoughts and I thought
there was after the golf ball get this
club traveling is low to the ground as
possible and feeling like it's gonna be
brushing the ground as low to the ground
and as far away from me as possible it's
a really simple feeling but a really
good thought to have when you're using
this hybrid now I'm not saying that even
that you're better players should go out
and change and get a 4i and three and
replacing with a hybrid but definitely I
was swimming to think about I just think
they're very versatile club for me they
can be a lot easier to out the rough the
lot use hit of tees and I find them very
very easy to hit in wins I find them
downwind you can almost hit it a long
way and then into the wind I can feel I
can get it going through the wind also
whereas sometimes with a nine or longer
inés is very hard to get that consistent
strike and that striking especially
across winds or into wind and get that
carry distance whereas for me this is a
club that gives you an all-round feel
now aesthetically it might not look good
for kind of your better players so
better plays maybe first something more
like kind of you you're driving on and
that's fine it's all down to bit of
personal preference within that I'm and
the kind of the set makeup but for me
the feelings are still be the same I'd
have that ball position I'll clip it
inside my lead heel my feelings would be
through the ball and that Club air
traveling is low and as far away from me
so give me that bruising action don't
feel like you've got to scoop it into
the air the club will do the
for you it makes it easy but let the
club do the work for you so let's
summarize today's video today's video is
all about creating a crazy consistency
with these hybrids now for me it's this
hottest club that we said we can use in
winds a crosswind off the tee a lot
easier off the deck but also you can use
this chip around the Greens too so
there's more than just one use to this
hybrid and for me this is the reason why
I carry this hybrid and this kind of
replaces kind of my gap between like my
3i and then kind of like my my forward
and my 3-wood so that is the reason why
I carry this rescue and now this is kind
of your more traditional looking one but
like we said earlier you could actually
go and get the driving iron aspects of
these two so all in all this video in
today's video is some simple feelings we
want to feel that golf club is as low
and as far away from possible after the
golf ball really have that mentality
that I'm going to hit it like an iron
and I'm gonna have that club head and
ball position a club head inside my lead
heel very simple thoughts very simple
kind of conversation we're having today
about these hybrids but it's definitely
a conversation he's have with yourself
do I need to replace kind of my 3 and 4
irons with a hybrid
I definitely think a lot of people
should do and they could definitely see
some advantages and their scores lower
because of that thank you for watching
