I'm gonna do a no zone blocking exercise but I'm gonna have you sit down because
there's quite a few of you anytime you want to open up your nose you hold your
breath now what I'd like you to do is to block one nostril and British and block
the other nostril and bridge Jewish so block one nostril British and black to
your nostril British if any of the females are pregnant on Jewish anybody
would high blood pressure serious medical conditions don't do it otherwise
it's safe yeah it's only holding your breath take a small breath into your
nose small breath out your nose pinch your nose hold your nose and sway
holding your breath so small breath in smart without pinch your nose hold your
nose and sway holding your breath and keep holding the breath keep holding
your breath keep holding your breath keep holding your breath keep holding
your breath keep going keep pushing keep pushing when it gets pretty tough let go
but breathe in through your nose so your keep holding your breath when it gets
pretty tough let go but breathe in through your nose and then we wait a
minute and we'll do it again so some of you will feel the respiratory muscles
contract as you hold your breath so what's happening there how do we open up
the nose you breathe in through your nose you breathe out you pinch your nose
as you pinch your nose carbon dioxide increases in the blood also as your
pinch your nose don't blow your nose yet because I'm gonna have you do it a few
times as you pinch your nose nitric oxide increases in the nasal cavity also
as your hold your breath hold your nose there could be a heat buildup because
you still have a lot of blood flow in the nose but you've stopped breathing so
there could be a heat buildup in the nasal cavity as you hold your breath you
activate the sympathetic nervous system could be any of these combinations that
are doing it a lot of the papers were focused on carbon dioxide but some
people don't necessarily agree it is co2 it could be any factor yeah take a small
breath into your nose small breath out you nose pinch your nose hold your nose
and sway holding your breath sway holding your breath sway holding your
breath it's--we holding your breath keep going
keep pushing keep pushing keep pushing so you're pinching both nostrils to hold
your breath pinch both nostrils to hold your breath keep pushing and when it
gets pretty tough let go but breathe in through your nose when it gets pretty
tough let go but breathe in through your nose so when it gets pretty tough let go
but breathe in through your nose so you usually have to do that about five or
six times to open up the nasal cavity
