hello reptile friends and welcome back
to my channel my name is India aka
anaconda react and in today's video I'm
going to be showing you how to feed your
baby corn snake so just before Christmas
I rescued my very own hatchling corn
snake called tiny she was in really bad
shape when we got her but over the past
six weeks she's been coming on in leaps
and bounds
and even though she is still very very
small she's actually nearly doubled in
size so she's eating like an absolute
champ today I'm gonna be showing you how
I feed tiny in the hope that it might
help you if you're looking at getting
your very own baby corn snake or if
you're having trouble getting your
hatchling corn snake to eat so without
further ado let's get started
so just a little disclaimer this video
does show my snake eating a frozen sword
pinkie mouse if the sound of that makes
you feel uncomfortable or upset then
please click away from this video I
don't want you to go upset by watching
it also YouTube please don't age
restrict this video I'm really hoping
that we'll be able to help viewers
you've been old who are getting their
very first cord snake and are unsure how
to feed it or would like some tips on
how to feed their baby corn snake for
the first time and if you ain't restrict
that it severely limits the amount of
people who are going to be able to be
helped by this video so with all that
being said let's get into the feeding
video so as tiny is still a very young
corn snake I am going to be feeding her
a frozen sword
pinky Mouse now pinky mice are these
smaller size or frozen Mouse that I can
buy at my local pet shop and it is just
about the right size for at the moment
you never really want to feed a snake
any prey item that is larger than the
widest part of their body I would say
that the largest point on
Tiny's body is about as wide as my
little finger so a first pinkie Mouse is
just about the perfect size for so all I
do to prepare the mouse is to defrost it
very slowly with some lukewarm water I
check on the mouse every 15 minutes
until it is completely defrosted and
then I warm it up with some warm to hot
water for a couple of moments until it's
the right temperature
you should always check the temperature
of the prey before you give it to your
snake because snakes in the wild will
eat live rodents ideally you want the
temperature of your frozen thawed rodent
to match that so it should be around 35
to 37 degrees Celsius you can use
several different techniques to warm the
prey up to that temperature including
blowing it with a blow-dryer or using
hot water like I do however you never
want to use techniques such as using a
microwave or other ways to a warm the
road and top that could end up cooking
it because that can be quite detrimental
to your pets health when the mouse is
defrosted and warmed up to the right
temperature then we can start feeding so
as you can see I've just taken the
temperature of this mouse for tiny and
it's only 21 degrees I want to get it up
to around 30 at least just so it kind of
mimics the temperature more of a real
live Mouse so all I'm gonna do is flap
this little mouse up and give it a blast
to the hairdryer for a couple of minutes
so this is Tiny's enclosure at the
moment as you can see it's really nice
and cluttered she loves to hide so all
I'm gonna do is just kind of move a few
things so I'm just gonna start to take a
few bits and pieces out of her enclosure
so I can actually find her but I'm
trying to do all this nice and quickly
because I don't want the mouse to get
cold ah their shoes hello tiny you
hungry I'm gonna do is grab the mouse by
its bum and just wiggle it in front of
her

girl girl she has actually just taken
that really gently from me now she is
actually eating it tail first which
shouldn't be too much of an issue but
usually you should try to get it so that
when they strike they latch on to the
head first but because she just took it
out of the tongs she's actually trying
to eat it
tail first it might take her just a
little bit longer but she will manage to
do that just fine
