hello everyone and welcome to my channel
this channel will be devoted to teaching
you about how to care for kittens
and i hope that this information is

okay so today we're going to be taking
care of these two little kittens
eleanor and marianne um they're my
second letter i'm fostering
um the gray one is eleanor and the brown
one with spots is marianne
so let's get into it okay so
as you can see i have my formula right
here
the ratio for the formula is one part
kitten milk replacer powder to two parts
water
i have actually added an extra one part
of pedialyte because it turns out
these guys are actually their poops are
a little
bit too solid so we had to dilute their
formula a little bit
and this container right here is filled
with some gruel
they're too little to be weaned yet but
this is the age where you want to start
putting in
just a little bit of gruel um into their
formula so they can taste it and get to
know the taste so that when they start
being weaned
they'll want to eat it
all right so we are going to start with
feeding eleanor
exactly the cameras
she's purring right now so i'm going to
get my syringe
this syringe right here is um a 20cc
syringe
right now they're having about 14 cc's
of formula
so we're just gonna fill that up
no
and here is the nipple we're gonna put
on the syringe it's called the miracle
nipple
it is a little bit long and some people
before they prefer to use the shorter
nipple
but this works very well too and these
guys seem to like it
all right so now you have to make sure
that you're not holding them on their
backs because then they are at risk of
inhaling the formula and choking
and you do not want that so like they
like if they were with mom you're going
to want to just have them like this
if you want you can put in a rolled up
towel for them to knead on which might
be helpful
these guys don't really need as much
so but you can do that
and you just want to hold their head
back you can hold them like this or by
the scruff
i find holding them like this is a
little bit easier and you just want to
put the syringe in their mouth
and wait till they latch as you can see
she latched pretty quickly
she's pretty good about eating and
you're just gonna keep
being here gotta make sure she's not
eating too much to not she's not eating
too much
at once though because you don't want
that
so yeah
we are now going to be feeding marianne
oh she just woke up
all right stay here
come on
so you can see she's latched right away
she's starting to slow down a bit
remember to always wipe their faces off
because that's what their mom would do
and give her a little break
i'm seeing him in the camera
we're now going to stimulate marianne
as you can see she does not particularly
like it
but this is what their mom would do to
get me to go to the bathroom
so yeah
and they meow because it helps them to
create pressure to push everything out
oh and she's pooped
so when you're stimulating them you want
to stimulate them with
either a wipe a cotton ball
a wet cloth or tissue or toilet paper
i personally prefer to use tissue or
toilet paper
because i think it's not as hard on
their poor little butts as wipes
and it absorbs more than a cotton ball
if they need to pee
but you can use anything you want you
can also use your hands although it's
not the
nicest method
also something that helps is to run them
under warm water because that helps to
get
their bowels moving
now it's eleanor's turn to be stimulated
as you can see she's a little calmer
than her sister when she's being
stimulated
i think she's peeing right now
so now we are going to clean her chin
off so that there's no more milk stuck
there
as you can see we are using some cat
shampoo and a toothbrush
so yeah the shampoo we use
is right here it's called
well and good oatmeal shampoo for cats
and you should use a shampoo for cats
for them because
that way it'll keep all their natural
oils there and it won't
disrupt anything going on with them
as you can see they like being brushed
by the toothbrush because it reminds
them of their mom's tongue
