how often should your nine month old be
eating how do you fit in all that food
with nursing or their bottle stick
around to find out
hi i'm renee with new ways nutrition
today we're talking all about your nine
month old schedule if you're looking for
a six to seven month schedule be sure to
check out my video on that
right around nine months your baby is
gonna be ready to start eating three
meals a day before nine months most
babies are content with one to two meals
a day as they really get the hang of
eating but after threeish months of
eating
many babies are really getting the hang
of eating and ready to join the family
for three meals a day
so what does that look like let's walk
through an example schedule
for this the times are just examples
don't worry about the specific time on
the clock instead focus on the intervals
between things
it doesn't matter if you have breakfast
or seven or eight just do your best to
space out meals and snacks in a similar
way to the schedule here
so let's say your baby wakes up at 6 30.
then they nurse or take a bottle and get
up for the day
do all the things you need to do
and then around 7 30 or 8 give them
breakfast
then 9 a.m if they're showing hunger
cues again then give them a bottle or
nurse and then down for their nap at 9
30. now obviously not all babies are
going to sleep for the same amount of
time but let's say they wake up around
11 and then nurse again or take a bottle
again if they sleep a different length
of time just pay attention to the
windows between things and adjust
accordingly
then around 12 it's lunch time at 9
months old you can still aim for 30 to
60 minutes between their milk and solid
foods there's no need to switch to solid
foods first until after they are a year
old
after lunch you go about more activities
and then they go down for a second nap
around 1 30.
if they show hunger cues or nurse for
sleeping it's okay to follow their cues
and nurse or give another bottle before
their nap
they might wake up say at 3 30 and again
nurse or have a bottle if they didn't
right before nap or are
showing hunger cues
then play some more and dinner at 5 or 5
30. and then they get another bottle or
nursing session around 6 30
when you do their bedtime routine and
put them to bed
as i mentioned at this age there's
really no need to offer solids before
milk it's okay to stick with milk around
30 to 60 minutes before a meal but also
know that at this age babies will often
settle into patterns i usually advise
prioritizing the sleep schedule first
and then the three meals a day
and then just let nursing or a bottle
fit in wherever they ask for it if it's
15 minutes before a meal but they don't
seem to have any issues with still
eating something when they do that then
that's fine
if they aren't interested in nursing or
a bottle before a meal but want it right
after that's fine too
it's easier to set up a predictable flow
to sleep and meals and let nursing or
bottles settle where your child wants
them
and with that i'll see you next time
