I welcome to the latest video in the
food etiquette video series this is
video number 5 this is about feeding
multiple dogs and respecting space and
one of the things you must ensure when
you have multiple dogs and it's feeding
time is not only do they know all the
food manners and etiquette that we've
taught them up to this point it's if
they then begin to understand what's
acceptable between dogs as well as
between us
what's acceptable between dogs and when
you set food out for a dog don't get to
Bowl their bowl and that's it you cannot
allow a dog to surf and or to lunge in
to wander up finishes take from another
dog's bowl you can't correct the dog
that is growling it a dog is trying to
take their food they've done nothing
wrong they're reading in their food if
ten she's coming up to take your thermos
food ten she needs to be corrected
immediately so how do you do this
like I said they need to know all the
other aspects and then you set your
bowls out distance if you're all worried
at all give it a little bit more
distance I tend to stick about this
sometimes me a close-up a distance this
would be a minimum distance when you're
starting you've got a dog that's a
little bit touchy or a little bit that
will do it my suggestion is stick them
on a leash and that way you can correct
them on the lead keep them away
DoubleTap correction sound and let them
go and we'll try and get one of these
dogs to break and so I can show you the
correction I don't need a lead so I'm
not going to bother putting the lead on
I'll simply Rosia we'll try and give
them a signal to behind the camera to
cross over and if they do all the
immediately correctly the sound and you
get the idea if they don't do that then
you just see how it should look and I've
explained how it should be corrected
but yes so that's it you're simply not
allowing one dog when they finish the
crossover or even mother read and cross
over to get another dog so you're
teaching the dogs to respect each
other's space if they take it you often
find a dog will already do that but the
problem is we'll enforce that space the
problem is they can end up into a
massive fight so that's what your
warning will void so potentially sick
sick sick so you had them here sitting
normal and then you give them the
command dogs take and you let them eat
and your monitor now it's deadly
important these dogs are not too
sensitive to touch what we're eating
because I'm using these many ways to
keep dogs separated by need to also dogs
sometimes they'll swing around while
they're eating so if he swings around
and touches this dog and they haven't
been desensitized to touch that is one
way you'll get a big dogfight going it
doesn't end up in a big fight if I go to
make sure they're not going to go to
each other's bowls it doesn't end up in
a fight so now that they've finished
other than just licking and that space
needs to be still respected until I say
otherwise okay so now they've done that
they've respected I'll do what I always
do
Doug's sure and they've been given a
share command which means each dog will
allow the other dog between prochik on
their space without an argument but
that's something that needs to be taught
and that'll be in the next video will
teach you how to get dogs to share
because until they're ready for that you
do not want a dog going come another
dog's bowl the like I said you just keep
them monitoring keep a laneway that you
can come up in between make sure that
dogs can be
and touch each other without it ending
up in a massive round alright and that's
just teaching the dogs to respect each
other's space while they're eating and
that is really important to feeding
multiple dogs alright I hope that helps
we'll see you for the next one
