possibility and welcome back to a brand
new video and in today's video I'm going
to be showing you how you could
potentially improve almost any new
Android camera you have so let's get
straight to it remember to subscribe to
the channel and hit that little
notification bell if you're new and want
to be notified every time I post a new
video like there's a welcome back like I
said now this week I am so excited we've
got so much happening we've got device
reviews including smartphones Android
boxes we've got Cody tutorials we've got
apks coming at the end of this week and
nice just a that's just scraping the
surface it's a little there's a lot
we've got giveaways forgot about that
we've got all of these coming so I've
got 12 of these to give away like we
mentioned in December so make sure you
are subscribed and I have the
notifications turned on so that you can
find out about these smartphones to
giveaway as well every two days in
December but like I said today we are
talking about how you can change alter
your phone so that you're using the
hardware the phone comes with but you're
changing the software so that you can
potentially get a better photo and
pretty much any new Android phone the
reason why I say any new Android phone
is because basically it's any phone that
has a specific processor so if you've
got a Snapdragon 820 821 835 and it's
over talking in certain Samson s8 the 1
plus 5 the 1 plus 5t LG g 6 and LG v 30
i believe as well plus and many of you
know that of course google released the
pixel 2 and the pixel to excel and they
are of course - fantastic smartphones
this year but one of the main reasons
why a lot of people like them is because
the camera is pretty much the best on
the market or at least one of the best
on the market now many other smartphones
in this day and age have fantastic
cameras as well especially the flagships
especially those expensive flagships
anyway but often people will compare
them to the pixel it will just come up a
little bit short in luck for most
people's opinions obviously it's all
interpretational its reputation with
that we're going with it it's all
interpretational and they have obviously
fantastic hardware on the google pixel
but as well the software the camera app
that it uses is also brilliant and i'm
gonna show you today how you can use the
camera on your setup can use the
hardware which is already pretty good
but often the camera apps software that
comes with those phones isn't quite as
good as the Google pixels and I'm gonna
show you today how you can use the
Google pixels camera app on your
specific smartphone to get much better
photos so first before we get onto it we
need to understand why this is gonna
work and the reason why it's gonna work
is because the Google camera app has
what's known as HDR Placid so we'll jump
back and we'll talk about dynamic range
so dynamic range is the difference
between the lightest areas in a photo
and the darkest areas in a photo so
often if you've got a lot of shadowy
pictures you're going to often not be
able to pick out the details in those
shadowy areas and likewise in order to
compensate for this cameras will often
over expose to brighten them darker
areas but then it leads to overexposure
in the lighter areas now we're hdr+
comes in with this camera app it
basically it does a much better job of
actually blending the two sort of area
so you will get a lot of detail in those
shadowy areas but it often won't be too
overexposed in the lighter areas now
even phones like the Samsung I say for
example which takes fantastic photos
you're going to notice the crispness of
certain shadow areas and also Cerne
overexposed areas that you would get on
the Samson essay so for example sky
shots where you've got a focal point
you've got a person in the foreground
and then you've got the sky in the
background
often the samson s8 will over expose
those areas again likewise with text in
the background on certain things like if
you're in a car park or in a tube
station or anything like that
and you've got actual text in the
background that you might want to pick
out because the samson s8 tends to
overexpose them certain background areas
there'll be a lot more blurry where's
our using this app with the HDR plus
you're going to get much more crisp text
so much more detail in those backgrounds
so again for landscapes and everything
like that will probably provide you with
much better photos so for this example
I'm going to jump onto my 1+5 and I'm
going to take some photos with my actual
inbuilt camera app on the 1+5 and then
we're gonna switch over to the camera
app from Google and I'm going to
actually take the same photo and I'm
going to show you the differences if
there are any
you can then decide whether you want to
download this specific app then I'm
gonna jump on and I'm going to show you
how to actually get this up in the first
place cuz it's not available on the App
Store you do have to download a apk and
I'm gonna show exactly how to do that
okay so here we are on the 1 plus 5 and
as you can see you've got your normal
camera which opens up like this and
you've got your standard sort of
settings at the bottom here where you've
got your photo video portrait pro mode
time lapse low mode panorama all that
now on the actual Google app is pretty
much the same or at least similar the
only difference is you've got your flash
at the top you've got this button here
which you can do auto cloudy sunny
florescent and tungsten you've also got
your front face shooter there which you
can flip route you've got your button to
actually take the photon you've got your
video setup here as well you've got this
grid button here so you've got grid off
you've got a 3x3 you can take you've got
a 4x4 and you've also got your golden
ratio as well there that you can take
and as well if you press this button
here you've got Settings lens blur
photosphere panorama and slow motion as
well now I'm going to show you some of
the pictures I took before and after
using the app and using the 1 plus
normal app so as you can see in these
photos which I took earlier although the
lighting is pretty bad is a very glum
day here in the UK you can see most
notably the difference in my opinion
when you're trying to take that sort of
portrait mode where you've got a
specific focus and you're blurring the
background and as you can see here I'm
using the 1 + 5 these are the original
photos from the 1 plus 5 camera app and
yes you're getting a nice focus you're
getting nice blurring in the background
but then when you compare it to the one
taken on the Google camera app you can
most notably see a it's a much wider
shot you're slightly more zoomed out and
it seems to just make for it all round
nice a photo compared to the fairly
zoomed one that you're getting on the 1
plus 5 camera app again another example
here and you can see the little ornament
figure there I'm not really sure what
that is to be honest a little bug man
but you can see obviously again it's
picking him out as the focus I say him
could be a her but it's picking it out
as the focal point and again in the
background you're getting that nice
blurred effect in both but on the Google
camera app again it's a much wider shot
it's a much more zoomed out and it again
in my opinion it gives very much nicer
photo now going away from that sort of
portrait
we're going to the normal camera and the
most notable difference you'll see on
these pictures is that from the sort of
get go it looks pretty similar boat I'm
gonna flick between the two here and
they look really similar but when you
zoom in you can actually notably notice
a difference in the clarity of those
blades of grass in this photo
and of course the leaves in the second
photo it's much crisper much cleaner and
again this is in really low light
situations you will see a bigger
difference if you're taking photos of
landscapes where you've got sunshine in
the background clouds all them sort of
things with text for example like I
mentioned you will see them pick up much
sharper on this Google camera than you
will on the standard app for most of
these high-end flagship phones some will
say they prefer it some more so they
don't but in my opinion it definitely
does improve the majority of photos in
terms of improving you've got to take
this with a pinch of salt because there
will be certain photos for example which
you might want to not use this specific
app one of them would be when you're
taking photos that include movement
because as we've mentioned that when you
take a photo using HDR it'll take a kind
of a few snapshots of that image and
then kind of blend them together now of
course if you've got movement
obviously it's taking snapshots across
the board and burning them therefore
you're gonna get a slight technically a
blurry picture a blurry picture blurrier
picture is the word don't know why i'd
put a gap in it a blurry picture than of
course normal another way you
potentially might not want to use this
app is be if you're taking a photo that
has really vivid colors because again if
you're taking a photo with really vivid
colors it's going to enhance the shadowy
areas and almost dull out a little bit
the actual focal point of the photo
that's really vivid color so it might
look a little bit bland compared to
natural light right so in order to get
this actual app if you want it if you go
to the link in the video description
below basically a download link for an
apk for this Google camera app is it's
not available like I said on the Google
Play Store so once you're on the actual
website what you want to do is you want
to scroll down and as you can see there
it says download Google camera app with
motion photo support so we click on that
and then you'll come through to this
page here and once you're on this page
here click on the click here to start
download
and it will say standby no wait time for
you download right away there is a bit
of a wait time oh so it's a bit of a
line and then basically it'll come up
with different what's known as mirrors
now sometimes it's a little bit glitchy
this website so what you want to do is
potentially if it freezes is just
refresh the page and again click on
click here to start and then as you can
see it says searching for mirrors and
then as you can see here these are the
different sort of download sections and
it's set to primary download there I
tend to find that it doesn't really work
unless you click on a different one so
if you click on let's say do them
Washington one will click on that and as
you can see it then say do you want to
download this Google camera abk again
because I've already downloaded it you
will just it will just say do you want
to download it you click on download and
then obviously once that's then
downloaded it says download complete you
click on open and then it says do you
want to install an update to existing
application again because I've already
got it yours will just say do you want
to install click on install and it will
often it'll say make sure apps from
unknown sources is switched on and then
it will then prompt you to go to your
settings and in your settings you can
set apps from unknown sources to on and
that's if you want to download any app
that's not available on the Google Play
Store and then you simply click on done
or open when you want to use it that's
pretty much it guys let me know in the
comment section below what you think
about this camera app and whether you're
gonna use it on your specific
smartphones if you got any questions
leave them in the comment section about
I'll try my best to answer them remember
