yo what's up guys welcome back to the
channel we're gonna be going over
windows 10 settings for 2022. now last
year i made a video that video is still
relevant and it'll still work but this
one is better and it's better for well
just trust me that it is better i'm
going to be adding a few more things a
few more safety procedures too because
some people are having issues with their
boot time after the video while it
helped most people people with low end
pcs were struggling a bit so i'm going
to help optimize both sides of the
spectrum the high end and the low end
now i can't even fathom how many views
that video ended up getting i don't
expect this video to get the same amount
but that video is over a million views
so that's absolutely crazy so we're
gonna add more things make this one
better and we're gonna keep it the same
by keeping it short concise and no
downloading you don't have to download a
thing i don't like that so you don't
have to download a thing again it's
going to be short so let's get right
into it to keep it that way so i want to
start the same way we did last time and
that is obviously by doing one thing and
creating a restore point so hit here hit
restore and hit create a restore point
so click on this once you see this hit
create go ahead and write a description
so just say whatever you want and then
hit create and just go through the
process and that will be your restore
point if anything ends up being wonky
just reset to this restore point fix
whatever is wonky and proceed with the
video that's the safest way to do this
for the people that didn't create
restore points last time and had
something wonky happen i'm sorry but
just listen to this step and that
wouldn't be a problem if you're looking
for windows 11 keys or office keys then
please go no further than b h this is an
affiliate for the channel so i'd
appreciate it a lot if you guys did uh
buy your keys from them using the link
down below that would help this channel
out tremendously so thank you very much
and eventually we're gonna get a windows
11 uh settings video as well so stay
tuned for that whenever we do get
windows 11. i haven't upgraded yet but
i'm thinking about it it's getting a lot
better and this is a good website to do
it since it's only 15 bucks plus i have
a 10 off for you guys down below so
let's go ahead and start off by going
into our settings so just hit on here
and hit settings get into the settings
app from there you want to hit system
and you'll get sent to this screen so
you'll see all this to the left and this
is what you need to look for and go down
to your storage settings now you'll see
i haven't done anything with this from
the last time i made the video so my
files have gotten absolutely huge
because i wanted to keep it like this so
i could show you guys how to absolutely
squash and clean up your entire disk
space this is something that will create
lag it'll create crashes these are the
most important things whenever you're
talking about smoothness in your game
and just smoothness on your desktop so
the easiest way to do this is obviously
delete apps you don't need and stuff but
go to temporary files and clear those
out i did this actually yesterday so i'm
sorry i did clear out some because my
download file was too much and i was
actually overwhelming it so just come
here and remove all these files i only
have 88 megabytes but it was like 10
gigabytes yesterday that's where i got
that from but this isn't going to help
you in the long run you're going to want
to come up here you're going to turn
this on you want to go configure storage
sets or run it now so what you're going
to want to do is have this set up for
every week and what this is going to do
is clear out temporary files and clean
out your recycling bin often because
even if you come up here and delete
something like steam come up here and
delete it right it's just going to a
recycle bin so it's not actually getting
deleted until you recycle it completely
so that's what all this will do and you
want to do the same thing down here
because this is the recycling bin delay
temporary files that my apps aren't
using delete files in my my recycle bin
if they have been out there for over 14
days that's how i have a setup all right
now back to your settings come down here
hit the bottom one is the about and go
hit advanced system settings you'll be
greeted with this page we're going to
want to hit performance here wherever
you see this and hit settings so you
could do any of these settings adjust
for best appearance to just for best
performance let windows choose what's
best for my computer etc but this is
going to be things like what shows up so
for example show shadows under mouse
pointer show shadows under window show
thumbnails instead of icons all these
things that you can change now i only
have one two three four on these are the
ones that i like on there's other things
that you could do some of them i don't
really like like if you see how i'm
doing this if you're on the standard
it's gonna actually outline this
entirely this is all for performance and
smooth this is great for low end pcs and
i have a decent computer and i still use
it just because why not keep it simple
now go hit advanced this is something we
didn't cover last time and you want to
choose how to allocate processor
resources adjust for best performance of
programs make sure that this is on
program some computers default at
background services if you're playing a
game if you're watching a stream
whatever it is whatever the primary
program is whatever is open so if i had
battlefield open for example it will
primary that and it's going to allocate
most of the resources to that now let's
go into our power consumption mode so
let's go power and you'll see edit power
plan click on this and you will see this
screen right here hit change advanced
power settings this will show you all
your power plans if you click on this
you'll have balance high performance
power saver ultimate performance these
are at least the ones i have for my
preset computer manufacturer you might
just have balance if you just have
balance maybe just keep it at that but
you can also create a new one by going
back into your settings hit power and
sleep hit additional power settings and
you will see this screen this is going
to be preferred plans but you could hit
here hit create a power plan and go
through the process there now what's the
difference between these that's
something i didn't cover in the last
video so balance this is something that
is going to lower fluctuate your cpu
usage more specifically your cpu speed
whenever your computer needs it and
reduce it when it isn't necessary this
is the default it should be good most of
the time high performance isn't
necessarily going to give you better fps
but what it does do is it makes sure
that your wi-fi your disk drive all that
stuff does not go into power saving mode
which if you're playing a lower end fps
like a cs go thing where you're getting
really high fps or even siege for
example you might go into a state where
these things like wi-fi disk space etc
go into a power savings mode that's the
thing that this will prevent the high
performance mode now balanced mode it
doesn't prevent that but you're not
always running your cpu at max usage so
there's a there's pros and cons to this
but i keep mine at high performance
anyways once you click yours go back to
the screen we were just at which was
this one and now you should have the the
correctly selected one now i want you to
go here hit pci express open up this
link state power management and have the
settings turn off i also want you to
come down here processor power
management make sure that this click on
this and make sure this says 100.
maximum processor state should be at 100
as well so just have these two at 100
100. that's all we need for our power uh
options just go ahead and hit ok and
that should be good to go now i want to
adjust our boot time per application and
for launching your windows in general
whenever you turn on your computer that
boot time from black screen to where
you're logging in and entering your pin
or your password or whatever that's what
we're going to be changing right here
type in system it's system configuration
and we're going to be doing this
differently than the last time because
we had some issues with the last time
and i have found better ways to do this
so you want to go to boot and advanced
options so this is still fine if you go
here and you hit number of processors
you should have it at max that's still
personally what i would do have it at
your maximum number of processors
otherwise you're not going to be using
your computer cpu as it's meant to be
used now here is where people fell into
a issue because they had a low end pc
and they were trying to copy what i was
doing when i told them that they should
not be the standard i believe is 30. 30
seconds from is your timeout now if you
make this 10 your launch time should be
pretty close to instantaneous i would
not make this 10 unless you have a high
end pc and not a super high end i have a
mid-tier pc so mid to high but if you
have a laptop or something like that do
not bother make this 20 seconds you
could turn it down from 30 but you're
gonna want to keep testing it and
whenever your computer crashes that's
when you've gone too far but the problem
is you need your restore points in line
for anyone that complains about their
computer giving a blue screen of death
or anything like that if you did not
create a restore point that is what
you're gonna get so please before you
try this do create a restore point but
this is one of those ones that's
absolutely worth it to test out 10 works
really well for me i get instantaneous
launches into all my games into whenever
i turn my pc on it literally takes less
than like three seconds which is
absolutely incredible with these two
settings this one and this one here's
where you're gonna hit apply and it'll
make you probably reset your computer
and there you go now that we got the
more complicated things out we're gonna
go through the speed round is what i
will call it first thing game mode game
mode settings make sure that this is on
just make sure that this is on amd for a
while if you have an older amd actually
probably won't benefit from game mode it
might actually hurt you so test this for
yourself but game mode usually works for
everyone i want you to go into your
services page hit services now go down
to the s it might take a minute to get
there but go down to your s's and then
you're going to want to go find system
main you could right click on this and
hit stop before you do that though i
want you to note that this is going to
be good for people that aren't
downloaded on an ssd if their windows 10
is not on an ssd do this if it's on a
hard drive a standard hard drive do this
it's going to slow down some of your
launch time but what this is doing is
pre-rendering basically pre-loading
applications so that they launch faster
so this is going to help out with high
ram usage if you have high ram usage
disable if you're on ssd don't touch now
go ahead and hit this start menu again
and type in focus and you'll see focus
assist so here is where you could turn
off all notifications so if you're
trying to prevent messages pop-ups while
you're playing while you're gaming while
you're doing anything turn this off if
you don't want them off entirely you
could just have them turn off while
you're playing a game when you're in a
full screen mode whatever it is you
could do it you could select how you
want to do it or you could just have it
so it's alarms only now go back and hit
background and you'll see background
apps click on background apps and make
sure that this is off okay this is gonna
let apps run in the background you don't
want that so turn that off that's only
gonna hurt your fps a lot next one go
mouse mouse settings click on this
hit additional mouse options click on
pointers sorry pointer options and make
sure that this enhanced pointer position
is off you don't want that on that's
good for
that's good for standard uses of a
computer like typing doing emails but
for gaming that's awful it's kind of
telling you where your mouse wants to go
instead of going where you actually want
to go so do that hit ok hit ok now your
last option if all these still your pc
still sucks nothing none of this really
worked even after we cleaned out your
files we did the game mode we did the
optimizations and your computer still
sucks what you could do is reinstall
windows that's that's really your last
resort because it'll clear out pretty
much everything and you get to just pick
which files that you want to keep
probably a good time to upgrade to
windows 11 at this point if you're gonna
do that might as well just buy a new key
i have the links down below for keys
that are 10 off it's like 12 bucks for a
key and you can update to windows 11 or
even windows 10 by a new key but this is
your last resort and that is exactly
where we're going to end this video
because hopefully you have improved boot
times improved frame rate more
specifically smoothness because
realistically you're not going to get
too much frame rate gain from this but
you are going gonna gain a lot of
smoothness within your game i hope you
guys all enjoyed i'll see you in the
next video in two days have a great day
