the suggesting mode is a Google Docs
version of track changes a feature that
you would find in Microsoft Word to
access it we look in any document that
we have open and it could be one that
I've created or it could be one that
someone has shared with me and we in the
top right corner we click the button
that's marked editing has a little icon
of a pencil next to it and if I click it
I open a small drop-down I have three
different editing modes to choose the
first one is the traditional editing
mode where any changes I make are now
part of the document and they're visible
to any any future reviewer or the
suggesting mode where edits become
suggestions and this mode works very
much like track changes in Microsoft
Word
so if I click suggesting my top right
button turns green and now any changes I
make in the document are going to be
represented both in the document and in
a little sidebar comment box so for
example if I decide as a reviewer that
four score and seven is a little bit
wordy I can highlight it I can press the
Delete key to get rid of it you'll see
that it's uh that it's covered with a
strikethrough and then the very head of
that paragraph I just type in my
preferred text 87 years ago our fathers
okay very good um so now I can see the
inside the green brackets my added text
my remove text and over here in the
right-hand sidebar I see a comment box
that says that I want to replace four
score and seven with 87 ok so likewise
if I decide that I don't like the word
continent highlight delete and instead
add the term landmass alright I'm
improving on Lincoln here again over
here on the right hand sidebar
I see the comment that says that I want
to replace continent landmass any change
I make in the document is going to be
reflected that way if I want to get rid
of an entire paragraph for example like
a retired phrase I can just click delete
capitalize the relevant letter to
in the sentence and essentially I have I
am making the kind of revisions that I
want to make if the original writer or a
future reviewer or I myself decide that
these changes are worthwhile I only have
to roll over the comment box and click
the checkmark to accept a suggestion so
for example if I say okay 87 is better
than four score and seven click the
checkmark and accept continent is better
than landmass click the checkmark to
accept but if I don't what agree with
the deletion here I click the X to
reject the suggestion and go back to the
original text so there we go
very simple track changes are very
similar to Microsoft Word is in the
editing modes up here in the top right
corner of the screen
