hey it's turned here and today we're
gonna do a little bit of a warm-up now
there's three versions of the warm-up
beginner intermediate and advanced and
if you want to take the intermediate or
the advanced one you can just go ahead
and click the links below now this is a
five-minute warm-up and this is
something you can do at the beginning of
your practice sessions prior to going on
stage for playing a gig show or
something like that but it's a really
really great warm-up that's gonna get
your hands moving in some different
rudiments and get you developing your
your sense of time and stuff like that
so let's just jump right into it now
before we start I need you to get your
practice pad and your drumsticks or just
get ready to play with me on your legs
it's very important that you practice
along with me that's the point of this
video okay so just go ahead pause the
video if you need to and go get your
practice pad and sticks I'll be here
waiting for you when you get back
okay so you're back with your practice
pads and sticks now we're gonna start
the five minute warm-up and this is the
beginner one like I said if you want the
intermediate or advanced one you can
just go ahead and click the links below
and practice along with me at a faster
tempo okay so we're gonna play this at
60 beats per minute and we're gonna do
each of these exercises for one minute
each and there's five different
exercises here we go one two three four
now when you're doing this focus on the
stick heights and we want kind of a
medium stroke roll okay I don't want to
be like pulling up all from the wrist
you want to be really receiving a
rebound back from that stick and just
straight sixteenth notes just focus on
really good time except the rebound you
want to you don't want to be pulling up
that still you want the stick to come up
on its own and your hand to follow it up
okay we're gonna change to doubles in
five seconds one two three four five
right right left right right left right
right left it's always hard to talk and
do this stuff of same time hey play
along with me
now with each of those strokes you're
gonna be pushing down the stick but
again really receive the rebound
of the stick okay I love that there's
like drummers all around the world that
are doing this with me we've doing this
a lot in drumming a lately students love
it so we do like our long one
and next we're going to switch to a
single paradiddle in 5 seconds 1 2 3 or
5 you doing with me and this is the
beginner version so there's two other
versions at faster tempos and you can
practice along with me there to keep
good clean strokes very loose grip ok
now we're the switch just with Army
triplets and just be careful how the
exercise actually turns around on 2 3 or
5 ok now we're playing the Swiss Army
triplet as 16th notes and 2 3 note
pattern so this is the challenge here
okay now we're going to switch to the
final exercise and that is a flam accent
again played as 16 months one two three
four watch that turnaround
okay let's end it now one two three four
okay so hopefully you made it through
the whole way hopefully you had a
practice pad when you're playing on your
leg or something like that this is a lot
of fun to do it's a lot of fun to just
kind of get a prebuilt routine that you
can come back to it any time and say I
need to warm up and here we go you just
play along with me it's as simple as
that I actually got the idea because I
see my wife doing workout videos and the
instructor she's like doing you know
these stretches like you definitely
start to say okay now hold that pose for
another 30 seconds 30 seconds more okay
five seconds now new sweet
and she's doing this almost every day
and something that you should do
something similar in drums but maybe not
with all the cheese and so I hope you
guys enjoyed it share it if you liked it
like it if you liked it share it if you
liked it like it if you liked it let's
just leave it at that so if you want to
check out the intermediate or advanced
ones you can just go ahead and click the
links below I'll see you there
