hello folks Luke Simon's with you back
to the basics 101 we are putting a
little concrete in about our family camp
which is our church organization we have
a huge family camp and it's it's
absolutely a blast but the concrete
we're tying into an old step system so
you have to drill holes into it right
put rebar out of it so that the concrete
itself doesn't mess around doesn't slide
down or time back down over time they
asked me to do it I'm saying oh yeah
all I've ever been used to is old hammer
drills that are have like an option of
hammer drilling and they're horrid one
drill bit for one hole that's all you
can get out of them it seems like you're
lucky you get three holes out of them
and you're sitting there all day long it
feels like you're dying check this out
now this is my father's hammer drill
this is made by Hitachi and we are going
to check it out my father told me he
used to hate absolutely despise drilling
in concrete now he actually looks
forward to drilling in concrete okay so
what we have here is the head of the
tool the drill bit themselves have a
unique little grooves in them at least
this particular model does and my father
has all kinds of drill bits in here
check this out
pull back there we are
check that out look at the edge there
it's called a hammer drill that's what
it is it's a hammer drill bit set this
is five ace this particular is a Hitachi
this
it already has 50 holes on it I went
ahead and drilled nine more holes now I
realized real quick that I didn't have
to push very hard the first hole took me
55 seconds then after that the rest of
the holes all took me about 40 seconds
apiece so very very quickly I mean just
absolutely a joy I did find out when
you're drilling this push it in and out
in and out clean that hole out otherwise
your bit can stick in the hole just as a
side note that's kind of a expensive
side note if you can't get your drill
bit out went ahead and cut some rebar
just put the rebar right into the
existing sidewalk this is a handicap
accessible sidewalk
my brother-in-law went ahead and formed
it all up and then a bunch of my friends
went ahead and laid the concrete and
turned out great the project absolutely
looks beautiful and it is going to work
great I am NOT a concrete man but I had
a lot of fun with this project and it's
always nice working with dear friends
but this is going to be years and years
of great service for handicapped and
kids with strollers fat file Act toss
file Act toss always be ready for that
next big job and when you're ready you
could sleep on a windy night beautiful
film crew today
