what is up everybody I'm the Mack mage
back with another Mack basic and in this
video I'm gonna show you how to drag
folders from your Applications folder
without making a copy or an alias so to
show you what I mean let's go up to the
go menu and I'm going to scroll down to
applications and open up my Applications
folder so here's my Applications folder
and in this folder I have this little
folder called brainstorms it's just a
regular folder like this but I've given
it an an icon and I keep it down here in
my talk and it hosts just stuff that I'm
working on periodically and it's you
know I did it just to keep my desktop a
bit neater now in this section there is
my school folder and I wanted to move it
out to my desktop but every time I did
that as you can see here it wants to
make an alias of this folder now I don't
want an alias I want to move the folder
altogether so that I can make
alterations to files in that folder so
there's a couple of things that I can do
here the first thing I can do is let's
say I just want to make a copy of this
folder when I'm dragging this out I
would just press the options key and
when you get that green plus sign that
means that it's making a copy so it's
still not gonna move my folder out of
this out of this Applications folder
it's just gonna make a copy so this
means alias message you can zoom in for
you guys hold on okay so this means
alias and this means copy well I don't
want either one of those so what can I
do all you have to do is drag the folder
out and while you're dragging the folder
out of the Applications folder click the
command button and then let go and it
will move the folder completely out of
the Applications folder without creating
a second copy or an alias and then when
I'm done I can just toss it back in
and that's all there is to it so
hopefully this has helped you out if it
