two-factor authentication adds an
additional layer of security to protect
your epic games account additionally it
allows you to take advantage of features
we offer through our products such as
participating in competitive events in
fortnight we offer three options to
choose from using an Authenticator app
on your smartphone SMX texting on your
phone or through your email address we
will explain how to enable each one in
this video note that this video assumes
you have already verified your email
address on your epic games account which
is required in order to enable
two-factor authentication to enable
two-factor authentication go to the epic
games website and click on sign-in in
the top right corner enter your email
address then your password and click on
login now hover over your account name
in the top right corner and click on
account click on password and security
scroll down to two-factor authentication
you will see three available options
Authenticator app SMS authentication or
email authentication first we will show
you how to enable the Authenticator app
note that you can only have one type of
two-factor authentication enabled on
your account at one time in order to
enable this click on enable
Authenticator app a pop-up will appear
outlining the three easy steps you need
to take to get the authenticator app
enabled you will need to download an
Authenticator app on your smart phone to
be able to complete this process in this
example we will be using Google
Authenticator app on Android note that
the process will be slightly different
on iOS devices open the app and tap on
begin tap on scan a barcode scan the QR
code on your screen tap on Add Account
remember the code on your phone the code
will refresh every so often for
additional security enter the six digit
code in the pop-up and click activate
backup codes are created in case you
lose access to your Authenticator app
click on generate codes make sure to
write down these codes somewhere safe or
you can click on download codes to save
a text file containing the codes on your
computer to confirm the Authenticator
app is working correctly sign out of
your Epic Games account by hovering over
your name in the top right corner and
click on sign out
click on sign in in the top right corner
enter your email address then your
password and click on login now you will
be prompted for a six digit code open
your Authenticator app and enter the
code then click on continue you've
successfully enabled two-factor
authentication through Authenticator app
on your app it games account SMS
authentication is another option you can
use without access to the internet or
smartphone in order to use this under
the two-factor authentication section
click on enable SMS authentication
select your country code and enter your
phone number then click send code check
your phone for the verification code in
the pop-up window enter the confirmation
code and click on activate click on
close to confirm it is working open the
epic games launcher enter your email and
password then click on login now when
prompted enter the six digit code that
is sent to your phone and click on
continue you've successfully enabled SMS
authentication on your epic games
account email authentication is the
third option we offer to use this click
on enable email authentication check
your inbox for the email containing your
two-factor code in the pop-up enter the
code you received in your email and
click on continue a window will appear
confirming email authentication has been
enabled on your account click on done to
confirm the email authentication is
working hover over your name in the top
right corner and click on sign out log
back into your account by clicking on
sign in in the top right corner enter
your email address
bend your password and click on login
now a two-factor code will be sent to
your inbox
check your inbox for the code and enter
it into the confirmation window then
click on continue you've successfully
added email two-factor authentication to
your epic games account
