hello my name is Josh perky I'm the
owner of stair Co AG our performance
during today I'm going to walk you
through how to properly bleed your
power-steering pump with the use of
hydraboost brace this is going to be
similar to a conventional power steering
pump bleed
however because your power steering
pressure line runs from the back of the
power steering pump to the brake booster
through the brake booster and then down
to the power steering gearbox
there's going to be one additional step
you're still going to want to choose the
proper power steering fluid and Jack the
vehicle up off the ground and elevate it
with jack stands so there's no load on
the steering or suspension take your
steering wheel and turn it all the way
to the left and all the way to the right
five times then press your brake pedal
down and up down and up down and up
three times this is one full cycle that
you're going to want to do forty to
fifty times
before starting your vehicle let's go
over to the ArcLight fab shop and see
how it's done using Aaron Kaufman's
truck
you
[Laughter]
alright guys we've already installed the
power steering gearbox and the power
steering pump
we've talked off the fluid with the AGR
performance power steering fluid and we
jacked the vehicle up off the ground so
there's no load on the on the front
suspension and on the front steering
what we're gonna do is we're going to
turn the key on but leave the engine off
we're going to rotate the steering wheel
all the way to the right and all the way
to the left and we're gonna do this five
times not real fast but you know you
don't need to go super slow either so I
think that's three times
and there's the fifth time we're then
going to push on the brakes we're let
off we're gonna push on the brakes we're
gonna let off we're gonna push on the
brakes for bleeding a power steering
system that also has a hydraboost brake
system that's the proper way to do it
that was one cycle
[Music]
the fluids gone down some but it was
still plenty full so we're gonna do it
again
this does get boring and it seems very
repetitive this is the best way to bleed
a power steering system and if you have
the hydraboost brake system as well
pumping the brake pedal in between each
cycle is also the best way there's a lot
of devices out there that say do it this
way suck a vacuum crack a line you know
all those kind of things that people
have gotten to be inventive and trying
to make a better process in fact is this
this just is the tried-and-true way it's
been done this way for years and years
and it is the proper way of doing it
one
to
and three okay guys so I didn't show you
every cycle that I had done bleeding the
air out of the system because of course
you've got your own power steering
system to bleed but I wanted to let you
know that it took me 90 full cycles
before I felt confident that I've gotten
all the air out of the power steering
system so just be patient take your time
and ensure you've done a good job I also
wanted to share one more pro tip when
you are ready to start the vehicle and
you're confident you have no more air
left in the system have somebody else
start the vehicle while you watch that
fluid level because if that fluid level
drops down at all when the vehicle is
started that's evidence that you still
have air trapped in your system
somewhere so turn it off immediately let
the vehicle set for 25 to 30 minutes
before you resume doing your cycles this
time try an additional 15 to 20 cycles
before you start the vehicle up again
