products and today I'm going to talk to
you about how to bench tests in auger
motor I've got an auger motor here and
what we're going to do is go ahead and
hook this up to power and I'm going to
show you how to properly test it so the
first thing you do is if necessary use
your adapters and you're gonna hook this
up to your a dr. winter that you made if
you don't know how to do this check out
our previous video that talks about how
to make the adapter cord got that hooked
up and I'm gonna go ahead and turn this
on and right away this shaft starts
spinning this is a 4 rpm auger motor so
this turns 4 times per minute if you
have a one-hour cam longer motor the
shaft will only turn one time in a
minute so what you want to do is hold
the motor in your hand then you're going
to take a pair of channellocks like this
and you're actually going to try to stop
the output shaft and I can't so the
motor should have enough torque that you
can't stop it by hand that's how you
know that it's good so we'll go ahead
and shut that off question that we
commonly get asked is can you turn this
by hand and you should not be able to
turn the output shaft on your auger
motor by hand not even with the channel
locks can I turn it there's no torque on
the motor with the gears inside that you
can't turn it if you can turn it by hand
the gears inside are probably bad and
you probably need to replace your motor
if you think that your auger motor is
over feeding and you might actually need
a new auger motor that's not possible
there's a gear inside here that can only
spend so fast because of the amount of
teeth it does so if you think it's over
feeding it's actually your control board
that's coming on too frequently an auger
motor kind of pulses on and off and
turns like that so it has power that it
does
how's power and it doesn't so if it's
overfeeding that's a control board issue
