Kane's garage Scotch ill are coming to
you from Charleston South Carolina
tonight no you don't get to see my ugly
mug and no smoke and mirrors and little
intros and sound effects this is some
serious stuff I want to talk about I've
got here three coils and I've also got
the same one of these that I bought in a
Jeep did a little research tonight and
there's simple ohms test that you can do
on the primary and secondary of these
coils and basically it's just a simple
old meter I've never done this before
this is what I learned off a video so if
I'm doing something wrong please tell me
about that too but I'm going to set it
to ohms it's automatic touch the two
leads together just to make sure I get a
zero reading which I do I'm going to
place the red on the positive side of
the coil and the black on the negative
and we'll take a reading
and I'm getting 1.2 as a steady to 1.4
1.5 on that one now I'm going to go from
the negative side to check the secondary
or the high tension side of the coil it
stops out at 7.15 this is the one that
failed I believe in the Jeep
it got hot and failed so maybe this test
is irrelevant but just interesting
anyways so we going to go positive
negative again
that's jumping all over the board maybe
I should get some alligator clips
that's a 2.2 2.3 s where that one out
now remember now this is the one that
failed so we're going to check a
secondary again seven point seven eight
this is a brand new one this is out of
the box came out of a different
manufacturers box but the identical core
I've got three the same of these now
that primary stops at one point one
I'll check the secondary eight point
four two and that's interesting because
I've got an information on for my team
oh the website and I trust that website
I think it's fantastic
and they're saying that the primary owns
on these coals should be one point 5
ohms plus or minus so we're good on the
primary but the secondary should be
eight thousand to eleven thousand so
we're coming nowhere near that I find
that very interesting is this just
something I'm doing wrong or is this an
issue because I don't think it's funny
when coils get hot motor shutdown let me
know what you think guys
