Dental Assisting National Board I'm Hana
Aaronovitch danby's director of
marketing and communications and I'm
here with Katie Hudson pillar danby's

client services first we'd like to talk
a little bit about Dental Assisting as a
career Dental Assisting is a
fast-growing profession and dental
assistants who earned an be certified
dental assistant certification are
positioned for success according to the
US Bureau of Labor Statistics there are
more than 300,000 dental assistants
nationwide and according to dnb's
figures more than 36 thousand dental
assistants hold CDA certification a
number that is growing each year the job
outlook for dental assistants is bright
the US Bureau of Labor Statistics
estimates there will be a 19% increase
in Dental Assisting jobs before 2026
there are many exciting career options
for dental assistants as a dental
assistant you have the opportunity to
work in a variety of settings such as
working in a general or specialty dental
practice public health dentistry
hospital dental clinics the military or
a school or university other dental
assistants work for insurance companies
or dental product companies depending on
your interests you can have an exciting
dental assisting career as you might
know each state has its own requirements
and job titles for dental assistant for
example some states might call a dental
assistant who performs expanded
functions a nefta or expanded functions
dental assistant other states may use
the title registered dental assistant
and expanded functions da2 or some other
job title it's important to know about
the Dental Assisting job titles and
requirements in your state so that you
can think about working toward reaching
new levels in Dental Assisting your
career may take you in directions you
might not expect
whether it be a new Dental Assisting job

own set of requirements for dental
assistants Danby exams and
certifications are currently recognized
or required by 39 states the District of
Columbia the US Air Force and the
Department of Veterans Affairs this is
just one example of how earning Dambi
certification can benefit you in your
career Danby is the National certifying
board for dental assistance and offers
many Dental Assisting exams and
certification programs Danby CDA
certification is made up of three
component exams radiation Health and
Safety infection control and general
chairside assisting to qualify for CDA
certification you will need to have
graduated from a dental assisting
program accredited by the Commission on
dental accreditation or have a minimum
of 3500 hours within 2 years of dental
assisting work experience current Danby
excepted hands-on CPR BLS or ACLs is
required for all Danby certifications in
addition to the CDA certification Danby
offers certification programs for dental
assistants in various stages of their

one of the most frequently asked
questions Danby receives is how do I
prepare for my Danby exam so now we're
gonna go over a few suggestions that may
help you get ready to take your exam
remember everyone who takes a Danby exam
has a different level of training
education and experience and Dental
Assisting therefore your study plan
should be unique to your individual
needs and include as many sources as
needed to begin we recommend you
download and review the exam blueprint
for the exam you are taking and identify
the areas in which to focus your studies
exam blueprints are detailed outlines
that cover all of the topics on the
exams and the percentage of questions
you will receive on the exam within each
domain exam blueprints for all of Danby
exams can be downloaded free of charge
on danby's website to access an exam
blueprint click on become certified at
the top of danby's home page then in the
left-hand menu click on prepare for
Danby exams and then on exam blueprints
on this page locate the exam blueprint
for the exam you are taking and then
open or download the exam blueprint
another resource available on danby's
website and in each exam blueprint is
the list of exam references this is a
list of the textbooks and other
materials used to develop the exams it's
important to remember that Danby exams
are not created using only one source so
it is helpful to use more than one
resource when preparing for your exam
you may even already have some of these
textbooks or other materials through
your dental assisting program the Dale
foundation the official Danby affiliate
offers online review courses and
practice tests these are optional
materials that may help you build your
confidence for exam day learn more by
visiting the Dale foundations website at
Dale foundation org please note the
completing a Dale foundation review
course or practice tests is not required
and does not guarantee you will pass a
Danby exam while studying for the exam
here are a few things to keep in mind
find a study space where you can focus
put your phone away to avoid
distractions break the material into
manageable sections and study a little
bit each day when memorizing information
right at
and read it out loud repeat as needed
make flashcards to quiz yourself and
review key concepts and vocabulary terms
on the day of your exam make sure you
have done everything you can to be at
your best here are a few tips to be
ready for the exam day get a good
night's sleep the night before so you
are rested and refreshed dress
comfortably and in layers so you can
stay comfortable during the exam be sure
to eat something before the exam so you
do not get too hungry during the exam
make sure you bring your Dan be accepted
photo ID and know how to get to the test
center and give yourself enough time so
you are not worried about being late you
will be provided with a locker at the
test center to store any personal items
such as cellphones purses and bags or
study materials you will not be able to
take these items or any items into the
exam room with you now we'll go back to

dental assistants salary survey earning
dan BCD a certification can improve your
career in many ways for example dental
assistants who hold Dan BCD a
certification report earning over $2
more per hour than non certified
assistants the study showed the dental
assistants who are Dan be certified earn
an average of 20 dollars and 46 cents
per hour compared to those who are not
certified earning an average of 1776 per
hour certified dental assistant
certificate said they received raises
more often than those who are not
certified according to the survey 70% of
certified dental assistant certificates
said they received a raise in their
current position compared to 59% of
dental assistants who are not certified
dental assistants who hold Dan BCD a
certification more frequently reported
high job satisfaction compared to those
who are not certified in the study 89%
of CDA certificates said they had high
job satisfaction versus 78% of those who
are not certified certified dental
assistants are dedicated professionals
who encourage others in fact 99 percent
said they plan to renew their
certification and 96 percent said they
would encourage others to earn
certification
and 95% reported that they view Dental
Assisting as a career to learn more
