and Annette I've been a licensed
building contractor in the state of
Michigan for 14 years now and I've been
in the trades industry for about 18 18
19 years so I know a little bit about
number one how to become a builder and
number two how to progressively get
better as being a builder first of all
there's a lot of different things
probably the most important variable I
would say in somebody that's looking at
becoming a brand-new licensed builder
would be experienced field experiences
hands down going to be the most
important aspect to you know to start
you out successfully in number one not
only getting a license but number two
being able to know what to do with
managing a crew running a crew
regardless of it's just one other person
and yourself which is the way I started
out now you know now as of late I've
been running you know cruise of 14 to 20
a whole lot different story there so but
anyways the most important thing you can
do is number one have some field
experience I would say the second most
important thing to do is check with the
state that you live in check their
website and find out all the particular
steps that you have to do to become
licensed in your state because they vary
from state to state especially in states
like Florida and California where they
have very very stringent hurricane and
in Florida while in California in
particular the earthquake codes I know
in Michigan they do require some you
know an upfront investment to even take
the test to become licensed on top of
that they want you to have X amount of
hours of experience under current
license builder to help you establish
yourself learn some of the ground works
from the ropes now in other states they
require a whole lot more than
you know they do in Michigan Michigan is
pretty laxed I think it's only a couple
hundred hours and you can go full-on
into the end of the big test
but anyways again I've been licensed for
14 years and the fact that you search
how to become a builder leads me to
believe that you're probably someone who
is interested in owning your own
business
there are I've owned might have a couple
of my own businesses like I said I've
been self-employed for 14 years now but
