in this video we're going to look at how
to use onedrive to auto backup your
desktop
documents and pictures and so this is a
great way to secure
anything that you're saving on the hard
drive of your device
to the cloud as well and that way if
anything happens to your device
you'll be able to retrieve those files
with support from your it person so i'm
going to double click here on the one
drive that's listed in my file explorer
and then when this extra onedrive window
pops up
i need to enter my district email
address and so again i'm using this demo
account
for the purposes of this video and so i
type that in and i click to sign in
and this other window loads here and in
the bottom right corner you just need to
click
next and then you get to decide which of
your folders you're backing up
and i would encourage you to just leave
all of them if something accidentally
gets saved to one that you don't think
you're using
you'll still end up with a backup of
that file and so we leave all of them
checked and in the bottom right click to
continue
the other great thing about doing this
auto backup is i can now access files
that are saved to my desktop or
documents or pictures
from my other devices and so if i have
an ipad or smartphone and have the
onedrive app installed on my mobile
devices then i can access the files and
folders that i have saved here to this
machine
from those other devices which can be
super useful so
occasionally you will get an error that
some folders
or files have not been backed up you can
either click to try again
or to skip sometimes this is because
it's a file type that onedrive does not
support
and where this one says dot a i'm going
to go ahead and click to skip
then it's going to walk you through a
little bit of a tutorial
and you're going to click next here in
the bottom right corner several times
looking at those things and then it's
going to encourage you
to get the mobile app if you haven't
already i'm going to click
later and now if i click to open my
onedrive folder
i will see here not only the files that
i have saved to the cloud storage itself
but also the things that are here on my
desktop in my documents or in my
pictures and you can see it's working on
those right now
