Need up to 30 seconds to load.
in this video i'm going to show you how
to backup your cisco switch
configuration
without a tftp server say in a small
environment you may not have a tftp
server or something has happened to your
tftp server and you have to do a quick
backup of your switch configuration
at that time this is a very
handy method
so if you're using putty go to party and
then
go to change settings and go to logging
and enable
printable output
and go here and type in the name of the
file you want to
backup this configuration too
uh it's just basically uh naming the
logging file
and i have named this as network tutor
to match my
switch host name and i'm going to save
this one
and then apply
and i come to my switch and i'm going to
run this command terminal
monitor uh no terminal length
length 0
so if i enable this command what will
happen is when i do a
show run it's not going to pass
in the middle
because it is a you see
this switch stack
has two switches
so it's a 2 0 42
and 42 0 48
so you have to
keep pressing enter button until you get
to end of the configuration so it's
going to take more than a minute so
you make sure you enable this
terminal and 0 command after you've done
the
change what you have to do is come back
and enable to 30 normally
the default is 30 or something
now you can see when i run show
run
it's going to stop
every uh 30 lines
and so this is one of the methods after
you've done this one
you go to
your change settings
and go to logging
and then
say none apply
and you come back here to your switch
backup
and the notepad
you have
and what you have to do is you come here
and edit this file because these are not
needed
and this is your
start of the configuration even start of
the configuration
uh
start
here you you can
delete this one
and you can even delete this one too
so this is where thing starts
and you come
to the end of the configuration
and clean up at the end if there's
anything
needed
to be cleaned up
and

now i'm at the end of the configuration
uh
and this is when i
showed you what will happen if you don't
enable this terminal
uh length 0
command i delete this one now you add
the end of the configuration
okay make sure
nothing
underneath the end
okay that's nothing okay
so the configuration looks good now and
you
uh click save
and what you can do is if something goes
wrong with the switch
and you are going to put a new switch
and
restore the configuration
you just open this file
and you start to
copy this one
copy
and then what you do is
come to your switch
with
ct
and you just
think you copied everything right
copy
paste
see
it is running all the
thing and then
you would be restoring your
configuration
uh within few minutes with this text
